have people had issues with any of the LE bags, like the Watercolor?
I haven't any experiences with the watercolor, but I had bad experiences with my Suhali Lockit: I have written this posting a few months ago::sad:
Last week I have bought my Suhali Lockit in Verone. The next day I have find out, that the seam of the inside pocket was totally open, I can put my hand trough the pocket till on the bottom of the bag and outside of the bottom there was a scratch. I called at the store, the SA said me that they will repare it and give it back to me.:wtf: I was soo disappointed about this message. Long story but:
Yesterday is was at the store. This SA was very kind and she was very shocked about the defect in the inside pocket and the scratches on the bottom.
She told me, that it's impossible to repair it and to give it back to me (the SA on the phone told me, that they want to repair it and to give it back to me!). There was 2 other Locktis in the boutique in Verone, and whe have inspected both very good. Both have had faults! The borders of the bottom wasn't "smooth", they have had a lot of "waves" and swellings. The SA was very shocked and me too. So I came back at home without a new Lockit - they want order an other one in a other store in Switzerland. All the 3 Lockits in Verone have had faults, the blue and white ones were ok.:nuts:
I`m happy, that the SA and the manager think also, that it isn't reasonable to give me one of these bad finished bags. What's happening with the Suhali bags in Verone??

This is all terrible news. I am feeling that it is best to make purchases in the boutique as opposed to online so that the item can be inspected and a relationship with a SA established

I find this sad since the bags are going up in price all the time. There should still be a level of quality even if they are making more bags..besides if they are so popular and they are making more from more customers they should have the funds to spend the same time making the bags up to the old standards. It sounds a little like greed to me,more people ,more money ,raise prices ,lower production costs and workmanship, even more profit..that doesnt seem fair to the consumer at all.

I think I remember seeing your thread - I think I might have wrote that I have had no problems with all 4 of my suhalis.... I totally take that back!!! Not long after I wrote on your thread I noticed my suhali le fab had a popping bottom (I only had the le fab for a few months, I alternate it with my other bags and so far it has only been taken out a few times on weekends) - well, when I brought it back, they did not offer to give me a defect free one and because the repair people have never seen the le fab inside, they cannot tell and just said it could be a leather issue. It's kinda like "too bad, but here's your bag and see you". I said it felt as if the structure at the bottom is compromised and what if it became worse if I continued using the bag... the answer was "there are no guarantees with Louis Vuitton". :nogood:

Shy Shy I regret that so much! The Suhali bags are very expensiv, so that's really a shame!:tdown::tdown:

I'm not sure why people are taking the Dana Thomas book so seriously. I have and read this book. This is what I've read based on her facts and implications:

The regular LV bags (i.e., coated-canvas bags) are made by assembly line and machine in their factories. No secret there; we already know this. She criticizes how LV isn't handmade anymore, unlike Hermes, which has maintained its luxury status. However....

LV special orders and Suhali bags were not criticized by Thomas (because these kept their luxury form); rather, she seemed to look down on anything with logos/monogram on it (and that wasn't limited to other brands like Gucci, Fendi, etc).

ehm, some Suhali bags are defective, too, and I wonder why you singled it out. oh, I can see that the people above^^ have had problems. :p

I started a similar thread a while ago, which didn't garner this much response. So, I'm thrilled more of us are talking about it. Only 10yrs ago, LV made an albeit small collection of super high-quality accessories, all classics that wear/wore for decades. Now, they make 100s of new products, including ready-to-wear, shoes, and jewelry, and launch seasonal LEs, which quickly become dated. I think it impossible to maintain the same quality from years ago. Remember how small and intimate the boutiques used to be? And the heavenly smell of leather? Now, the boutiques are as big as department stores and do not feel as special. I feel LV has gone the "fast fashion" route (like Prada and Gucci), and have somewhat abandoned their classic heritage and high craftsmanship. Don't get me wrong, I still love LV and will continue to purchase from them, but I am much more cautious and selective.

I do no have a huge collection, but the quality change is alarming. I sold my Galliera GM and found an older Croissant GM on Ebay that I adore now. I can feel the difference in the canvas and even the hardware. For now, I'm sticking with older pieces, I hate knowing the prices are increasing but the quality is decreasing. So sad.

If I pay $1500 for a bag I want a $1500 quality bag I don't care who made it LV, or H or whoever. I haven't had any problems with LV and that's why I'm sticking to LV until the day where I get screwed (which I hope never happens)

I am sure there were numerous DEFECTS 10 years ago, but we did NOT have a forum to tally up how many of them there actually were =] It's LV people, it's very very high quality.

Well said......I'm sorry to say but I agree that the quality isn't that great - for example the clip on my Neverfull to close it, it's very thin and cheap! I have the same type of clip on a Furla bag and compared to the LV, the Furla clip is much thicker and more sturdy, and Furla is half if not even less than LV. I've said it before but I don't think our bags of today will be the vintage classics that we hope for.

*But I still love my LVs*

I think LV quality has gone down. This is the Batignolles Horizontal (made in Spain) I got in HK recently. Got it exchanged and wrote to HQ. Asia HQ has advised that this bag still meets their quality standard guidelines. What's happened to their quality control of symmetry and continuity? I asked if they have given up that standard, I am still waiting for a straight answer, "yes" or "no" answer from them which they promised to get back to me in a couple of days.
