LV and the quality

Sadly LV quality is falling off. I recently purchased a Tivoli made in the USA and the trim on the sides was coming up in less than a week of light wear. I went back to the store and contacted customer service but can't bear the frustration of the whole process they try to put you through to investigate the issue. It makes me want to write LV off forever. Maybe I will...until next season.

Sadly, I really notice a decline in quality on the speedy handles. I had an older one (which I sold) and notice older ones had perfectly folded leather (base of handle near the square rings). The pieces of leather used to form a perfect "v" and the glazing would be put on with a perfect "v" shape. Now, 9 out of 10 speedies will have sloppy glazing in that area. Oh well, not a huge deal for me but I do notice it. If they get any sloppier, the fakes ones will look more real:p

Also, the pattern on canvases used to line up before and now they are inconsistently sewn. I notice on pics here on the forum that some are really way off. This is noticed on the MIF bags too.

I just received my Mono Speedy 35, but noticed that the "Made in (insert name here)" stamp is missing on the outside leather flap. I ordered this bag from the online LV store. Has this ever happened to anyone?

I was looking at the handles of my Totally MM the other day while I was at the LV boutique and I noticed that the glazing at the top of the straps was rubbing off (the part that sits on my shoulder). I showed it to my SA and he said it was normal wear and tear and that the leather would not peel or break, but that I could get it reglazed if I wanted too. What do y'all think, should I get it redone? I've only been using the bag since mid-November, I'm really surprised how much the glazing has worn off.

Since it's supposedly normal wear and tear, will I have to pay for this repair?

It shouldn't be a thing wrong with that bag and u just bought. For that tho of money LV should be what they r known to be and that is "indestructible"! I'd raise all kinds of sand until they swap you a new or do it for free. The reglazing is going to cost substantially if they charge u!

After reading these posts, I'm really glad that I opted to purchase vintage bags. I wasn't really even considering vintage, but these bags happened to come up for sale and I couldn't resist. I have a 1992 Cabas Piano and a 1983 Speedy 35. They definitely need a little TLC as far as cleaning and shining up the brass hardware. I love classic, vintage pieces. You can't go wrong. They will never go out of style. The canvas is so thick and has maintained shape over the years. I'm not sure if I would want to purchase a new bag if the quality has deteriorated. I know it is a sign of the times and the fact that items are mass produced. It's a shame because LV had such a high reputation of producing high quality items.

I have a speedy 25 bandouliere and it's made in France. I bought it in Montreal, where I live. I love it and have no problems with the stitching or hardware. This is my entry bag into Louis Vitton and are planning on a next purchase within the month...just have to pick a shopping day with friends.

I really wanted to get the pre loved speedy but since there is no refund for the Damier speedy that I bought, I finally got a mono speedy 35.

Knowing there are bags cheaper with firmer materials and chairmanship out there in the market, though I own a new mono speedy but I'm not as happy as I thought I would.

An I sad?

I have a DA Eva bought in 2010 and last week I bought a mono Eva.
Comparing the two bags i realized that the brass colour is much more shinier and intense on the old Eva. After wearing the new Eva for 2 days, already the seams were loose and I had to take it back.
I heard the made in china rumour, too but of course there are no proofs.
I'm just wondering with all the high demands how these bags can continue to be hand-made by skilled people.
My NF De is cracking after 1 month!!! Unfortunately I didn't know about these issues when i bought it and LV will not change it nor give me refund. The SA said it was wear and tear.
This being said, I'm swearing off LV although there are many bags I love.
Has been a few days since you posted this. But I see you're from Germany. Don't know when you purchased your bag, but there is a law in the EU to protect consumers. You have a two year warranty on your product. Since its not a cheap bag you can expect it to last. So they will have to exchange it for you, its by law. I think if this was not too long ago you should go back with this new knowledge.

The Totally straps have glazing? Where??

Whether or not you should be charged depends on how long you have had the bag and how often you have worn it. Some people are just harder on their bags than others, even people who swear they baby them. One person's gentle use may not meet the standard of another person's gentle use.
