LV and the quality

This is exactly why I only go for vintage LVs. Because they were made many years ago, they have the top par quality that isn't seen so much today. Much of the time they've held up amazingly because of this and only need some gentle cleaning/maintenance. Yes, they are "used," which I realize many don't think is the classy way to go, but I got over it. Personally - I much rather prefer my bags broken in anyway!!

I'm assure scared now after reading this. Just bought a speedy 35 Demier Ebene yesterday from the store. Right I was in the elevator I saw a NF with peeling straps. I'm now have second thoughts.

I just bought a second hand monogram Deauville which is very strong hold, thick and intact. The speedy feels pretty frail. Should I get the speedy monogram or just think about something else altogether?

Hi I believe that the canvas on these newer bags is thicker on the monogram than it is on the Damier, I have both bags and I would still choice the Damier ebene over the monogram.

Can you tell me why? Is it personal preference? I myself like ebene that's why I got it in the first place. It looks modern and seems can go well with my style and outfit.

Hi there!
I just want to say that all LV bags seems to be made in China, yesterday I was reading an article about LV. I actually was really shocked because my bag turned out to be made in China instead of France, I purchased my Speedy mono 35 in St. Tropez 2 years ago. In that same article she (a woman called Dana ..''something'') was telling about the quality that's not the same anymore and it's all about more money money money and they don't care anymore about the lifetime of these bags. I think I won't be purchasing LV anymore, it's no longer nostalgic I think. Too bad, I love the bags :thinkin:

Oh, I'm dutch, so my grammatical writing may not be that great! hahah!

I have a DA Eva bought in 2010 and last week I bought a mono Eva.
Comparing the two bags i realized that the brass colour is much more shinier and intense on the old Eva. After wearing the new Eva for 2 days, already the seams were loose and I had to take it back.
I heard the made in china rumour, too but of course there are no proofs.
I'm just wondering with all the high demands how these bags can continue to be hand-made by skilled people.
My NF De is cracking after 1 month!!! Unfortunately I didn't know about these issues when i bought it and LV will not change it nor give me refund. The SA said it was wear and tear.
This being said, I'm swearing off LV although there are many bags I love.

Any facts at all to back this statement up? Are you disputing those LV bags marked "Made in France," "Made in Spain," etc.?

I think she may be confused. She's reading a book written several years ago, author's first name is Dana - "How Luxury Lost its Lustre," or something like that. They do not specifically say LV bags are made in China. Prada are; Burberry are, Coach are, etc.

That said - clearly LV is indeed outsourcing and they do have large manufacturing plants in both China and India. but it's not "ALL" their bags, at least not yet.

But if she said that Dana said that all LV bags are made in China, that statement just isn't true. She didn't.

While I do believe that French luxury goods companies including LV are outsourcing--I mean, they have for a long time--it was the broad sweeping declaration I was challenging.

I have returned the speedy 35 Damier without opening the box but I was not given whole refund but store credit only. I really like the old speedy which are firm and solid feeling. I think I am going to look at the second hand ones to feel the difference in the material. I have to make a decision soon as its heard that there will be a price increase again.

My SA called me last week to say she has accepted a job offer at another boutique and no longer works for LV. She stated LV latest shipment was a disgrace in terms of quality and she refuse to sell them, especially to her loyal clients.

I really think they are starting mass production in China.
My Vernis Clés stank horribly and they refused to exchange it. It stank just like the made in china neverfull fake that i accidentally bought on ebay...
