LV and the quality

I've never had an issue with their merchandise falling apart. However in the past 90 days when I ordered stuff from the LV website, 2 items I ordered were visibly used before. One was a Zippy Coin Purse in Vernis, the card slots were so loose like it had been stuffed with 2 cards per slot, the corners where the zipper went around were somewhat caved in and showed signs of wear. The Eva I received had the plate scratched, a hair tie was inside with hair. I was able to exchange the items but its such a hassle with the turn around times, refunds & makes for an overall unpleasant experience. When I had called the 1800 number to let them know the item I received was used, their staff insists that their product goes out with QC. I usually email them with pics while I have them on the phone, when they take a look at the pics, they sing a different tune. Now if I order online I just make sure to check thoroughly that the protective stickers are on the zip pulls, plates, plastic on the handle wraps. If not I will send it back to them for a refund.

I just went thru the same thing with an online order for an Evora...There were marks on the piping and it almost looked like it was bubbling. It is the first time I've had an issue with an online order as well....I just sent it back and they got it today...it will be interesting to hear what they have to say...I was also disappointed it was not even shipped in a box! Just a dust bag and LV bag!

Oh my WOW! Im so sorry you had that experience. That is why I will never order online for luxury items or jewelry unless I live too far from the store to drive to it. For the money you spend on these items, there should be a lifetime warranty on them all. Thanks for the feed back!

Yes, the quality is declining. I had an old Speedy and recently I changed all the vachetta on her. The old vachetta was so much thicker. I also bought the new Speedy (in different pattern :D) and the canvas on the old one was thicker too. In the store I really feel that they sometimes sell already used and returned stuff (but I think that is also a customer problem because many people use their bags for three weeks or so and then decide to return them as unused which is just rude). But, I am still an LV fan. I am just very careful in the store because I know that it would be hard for me if I had to return it (the nearest LV store is 4-5 hours drive in one way...so I have to spend the whole day on shopping in a different country and that is a hassle sometimes).

I agree with the others, it has declined! DH purchased a Totally MM for me and I could tell it had been used. The bag straps were not "fresh" vachetta and had slightly started to turn colour. Also there was slight pulling where the straps connect to the bag as though it was used to carry heavy things. The blank tab was also very wrinkled from being held to assist in zipping the bag.

The vachetta on my older pieces are much better quality and patina'd beautifully. The vach on my newer pieces turn black instead of golden brown.

I still love LV but I am very cautious and have invested in other designers as well.

Oh my goodness. If I had an LV piece 5 or 10 years old, I would never change the leather or brass. As long at it is working properly and still in tact. My vachetta would just get as dark and lovely as I am. I heard that the older LV pieces from anywhere over 5 years or more ago were workhorses. They were indestructible!

My Speedy was actually my mothers bag. She got it in 1992 (I was born in late 1988 so it is almost as old as me). She is not into designer bags anymore and that was actually her only big designer bag. So, in 2010 she gave me her bag. The vachetta was in pretty bad condition. I do not mind the patina (I actually love it :D) but the handles were dry and peeling (one leather tab felt off). And it got worse when I cleaned it with baby wipes. So I just had to do that (the canvas was in great condition, though). This is the picture of my refurbished Speedy with my new Speedy: http://i.imgur.com/5a3TZ.jpg. Now I can wear them both (the older Speedy was just sitting around because it looked awful).

But seriously, the old vachetta was sooo much thicker and the canvas is thicker, too. I think they cared about quality back then and it is just about selling the bags now.

I agree. Because everybody is into LV now. So making a sale is a big factor. When I was a kid, I only saw the well to do and/or sophisticated people with LV bags. They were also alot cheaper. A speedy 40 back in the 80s was only around $495. But of course now we have the celebs and hip hop artists that really boasts these luxury items which causes alot of the younger crowds to actually go out and buy buy buy thinking it will boots their status. However I love the good quality and craftsmanship of an item.

I think it's like any other brand - the majority of buyers will get good quality items and have no problems (otherwise the brand's reputation would decline so badly that no one would want it). However, a few 'lemons' get past quality control - there was someone on here recently with a brand new Speedy where the stitching was unravelling, mine is a year and a half old (not babied at all) and still looks perfect. I agree with those who won't buy luxury goods (any brand) online and who inspect their items carefully in the store.

Well i might be the only one who speaks differently. sure the canvas and vachetta have definetly changed. BUT nothing else. Maybe as i live in Australia BUT we get all our products from spain or france or italy and ebery piece is brand new. We return the overly used pieces back to the France factoey to be burnt. OR ship to US i guess? BUT i have never gotten a return piece like you guys have. I know one or 2 of my items have been used but only slightly. Its very touch and go in the US now. BUT here in AUS LV is popular but still not OVERLY popular. They only have massive shipments of speedy's and neverfuls and staple pieces BUT of everything else is limited. SO i can safely say BOOK A TRIP TO AUS:) haha ull get some what quality LV:p

Oh no that's terrible! I've never not received a box, but this last order it wasn't tied with the leather tie or ribbon or anything and the bag fell out, it was floating around the shipment box.. and of course also fell out of its way-too-small dustbag LOL. Ugh.
