LV and the quality

Nothing, unfortunately, is made the way it used to be. Not bags, not cars, not appliances. However, I still love LV and I can honestly say that I've only ever had a quality issue with one item, a wallet, which they refunded me for. All my bags are of excellent quality, and the wallet I bought to replace my defective one still looks as good as the day I bought it. You can still definitely buy with confidence, and if something does go wrong, LV will repair for you free of charge within a year of purchase.

Its funny you posted this. I am actually considering purchasing a damier 35 anyday now, however, I am having the same concerns. I just purchased an agenda a few weeks ago and it had some fraying after 4 days use. I pulled the hanging pieces and put it away in its box. But back to what you were saying, I too am having second thoughts due to the decline in quality and the number of complaints here on the forum. Please let me know what you decided to do

It is kind of scary!

I own an azur speedy 25, pre-loved. It's from 08, but I do not have any falling apart issues whatsoever. There is color transfer on the bag, but it really just doesn't bother me much. I don't think it is that noticeable.

I want to get the damier ebene speedy 30, but it makes me nervous when I see the threads of owners of the bag where the red lining is poking through the bottom of the bag! Eeek!

Thanks for replying you two and I noticed this thread was viewed over 300 times so come out, come out where ever you are. Lol

Anyways, yeah, I'm getting nervous about what has happened to LV on a whole. I think this forum in particular will have a big impact on whether or not LV starts making the quality bags we all love but just accepting and "ignoring the pink elephant " how will we know what changes can happen if we all band together.

Some ppl think threads/comments like these are designed to bash LV or "bring someone down", not so b/c we are the buying consumers and I do believe that it was b/c of this forum that LV started putting cloth tags in bags b.c of the impact the "Made in France/Spain... made.

I believe we have the power to see change but some don't want challenge so they put blinders on meanwhile Louie makes a killing and our bags keep getting more inferior/less quality.

To answer your question I'm not saying I won't purchase new form LV b/c there nothing like "new" but I'm also looking @ certain items made b/f subpar quality kicked in b/c I know it was well made and I can wear w/ confidence.

That's exactly what I mean and not that I really care what ppl say but imagine you wearing new Louie...them knowing the "price" and "THEY" see your brand new bag falling apart...

I don't feel confortable paying $815 for something that will not hold up so I am now considering a pre loved damier ebene 35. My only concern with that is will I be able take it in for repairs, if needed. I have always purchased my bags from the LV boutique and Neiman Marcus so I am not sure how that works. Although, I must be honest, my vernis alma mm is 3 years old and have no signs of wear or tear and I do not baby her at all. So, I guess they are making some bags better than others depending on the cost. The majority of the compliants on here are about the speedy and neverful, right?

AshTx, I was terrified when I saw those images. I could not believe an authentic Louis Vuitton bag could look like that from normal everyday use.

I personally haven't bought any Louis vuittons yet I will sooon but I have always looked at them . The quality hasn't gone down but some designs have because in the past Louis Vuitton would collaborate with other designers having pops of designs in their collection noe....Not so much

I wonder if the materials have changed. I have a bag from 2005 and it looks great. I used to use it all of the time and now just use it occasionally, but it still looks new. I took my friends 2 yr old Delightful in because the strap was coming apart from the bag and upon closer inspection, the fabric underneath where the strap was sewn has cracked and there are several horizontal cracks on the body of the bag. She went to the LV store in SF to talk to someone there about the strap and they said because the area underneath is cracked, it can't be repaired. I went to Bloomingdale's and the associate said the same thing and pointed out the horizontal cracks, calling it wear and tear. He said she should have been "educated" to rotate her bags. I finally decided to try one last time at the location the bag was purchased. I consider myself lucky that the SA didn't turn me away but instead got a supervisor involved after seeing the date of purchase and the cracks. The supervisor said they can't repair it, but they will accept it for analysis to see if the bag is "prematurely aging". She said at 2 yrs, it is on the cusp, but they will submit it for a quality review.

If this company was famous for it's luggage and the coated canvas used for that famous luggage is what they use for the bags, shouldn't the bags last more than 2 years????

The Canvas on my Artsy seems beautiful, but I'm wondering if it just feels better because it has a nicer lining. I want a Speedy with strap so much, but every time I go look at it I just can't buy it because it feels like the material is so thin. I want it to feel like the Artsy!

OMG! I was thinking the same thing. I exchanged my speedy for the artsy b/c the canvas was soo thin and cheap feeling. I love my artsy so much and I want one in mono but I scared that it's the same thinner canvas just with better lining. Hopefully the thicker lining with help with the bags longevity.

The sales associate categorically told me it was not possible to order a Speedy 30 Monogram from France. Impossible, she said. I will call the store again and see. Thanks. Also, I will not buy the US made ones, with all the bad reports and the unsatisfactory visuals of my own.
I got my speedy 30 azur a week agm from harrods London and is made in France with nk material label either.
