All my SA ever said to me was that it was "hand finished" I didn't inquire further so she didn't elaborate.
You know that there is less handcrafting involved than they would like us to believe, right? Or why else did LV not divulge exactly what it is that one of their "200 artisans" has laid their hands on...? Or do they consider guiding that hand sewing machine that they quote as the handcrafted part? There is a lot more machine made and less hand made going on than we want to think. Or how else would only 200 artisans be able to provide the world with thousands of products of it weren't for machines?

The ZCP also came in today so I'm all setThanks for helping me through this. It doesn't seem like such a big issue now but it did at the time! And you know the funny part is they said the bag is still salable so they are going to sell it to someone else who isn't as picky as me. I would think the stitching issue would be considered a defect but I guess not in their eyes? Oh well.
I'm so sorry I didn't get a chance to take pics today, the LO wouldn't nap and wanted to play all day and night! lol
I'm glad you got everything you wanted and it sickens me that they are still selling that same Eva! I completely understand that the mismatched creasing may only be annoying to OCD people like us but the BROKEN stitch?! That's disgusting. -__-
^^ You got a point, for sure. Thanks for explaining it in a clear wayI guess we'll all be kept in the dark about what their manufacturing process exactly is.
OP: glad you got a replacement. I saw the stitching issue on my computer, wow, that is a defect for sure. How interesting that they are trying to sell it to someone "less picky", they probably hope someone won't notice it...
That's exactly what they said! They didn't even really bother to look at it. I overheard the SA mention to the Manager the reason she was processing the exchange and the SA said it was salable so I interjected and pointed out the stitching issue to the manager and she just smiled and said it was okay to resell (to the Associate). Not my problem anymore so I didn't say anything else. The new one didn't have this same issue so I call it a defect.
As far as the hand-made thing is concerned...I saw a video several months ago on LV's website which showed them hand-stitching the vachetta of the bag (handles, etc) after using some type of machine to make the holes where they thread the needle. This is the yellow stitching you see on monogram and DA bags. I think the part that is machine-sewn is on the canvas and folds. I cat find that video anymore but I think it's part machine-sewn and a small part is hand-made. This is what I was led to believe from watching the video.

Thank you! I actually have the speedy 30 in mono and a speedy 35 in mono is on the way. The 30 is made in 2001 and the 35 is made in 2009. The 30 held up amazingly but I'm planning to sell it because I got the 35 ( I love bigger bags). I like to buy preloved because of this issue but I'm not sure how far back I should go. I could definitely tell the difference with the 30 compared to the ones in the store. So my question is, is speedy bags made in 2009 still considered the same quality as 2001?
Update... they on;y fixed the strap, I was disappointed but what can I do. I took the back and left. Thank you so much for everybody helpful advice. How soon after you got the bag did you bring it back to the store?
I would go back with your husband and speak to the manager (who is probably the person that refused the return). They need to make it right and you need to fight! Hopefully you will get a response from customer relations; you may have to put it in writing. You can also try returning to another LV store.
