LV and the quality

The real quality issue I have with them is sloppy work and slack quality control where some sloppy workmanship passes QC. Others have mentioned thinner canvas and such. I also noticed that difference but attributed it to the type of bag. For instance, my DE Speedy's canvas seems thinner than Saleya canvas but it could all be due to type of lining making the Speedy canvas appearing thinner.

My new speedy is the same mif. tHe piping is turned in and you can't see it from the sides. But out of three that I saw that were mif it was the best overall, the first one I bought had misaligned canvas, but the rest of bag was perfect, no rolled in sides. The second one had a few flaws like crooked leaf and piping, not just turned in but not evenly sewn in. So I went with the one I thought ,and the sa thought was better.she said that it will loosen up with use.

Do you notice this on the bags made in the USA? Or are they all made in France? I've heard from other blogs that the ones made in France are still the best quality.
IDK about that... I bought a Delightful mm and had to exchange it soon after because the Leather on the rim was crumpled in one area. And that was made in France. Hmm...

My Neverfull is only 2 months old and the red trim on the vachetta is peeling off! It actually had a tiny spot like that when I got it and some of the vachetta was rough in some spots. I ignored it because the red stuff was only peeling in a tiny spot and the vachetta roughness wasn't even noticeable unless you touched it. But now the red stuff is peeling all over the handles. My new Artsy feels completely different. It seems sturdier, and heavier. Seems like its higher quality than my neverfull. Both were made in the USA. Maybe LV just cuts corners on their lower priced bags.

u mean the glazing? if that's the case, try bringing it in the store since it's only been two months since you purchased it. considering the price you have to pay for the bag, i'm sure, they'll do something about it, they should be able to do a reglazing on your handles for free.

Whoa...I have never heard of glazing peeling off of any vachetta! Ebene leather yes, (my ebene NF has some peeling glaze) but not on vachetta. They've GOT to do something a out this! It may not even be the quality, it may be an issue with the design of the bag that causes this to happen. I'm sorry that this happened to your bag.
With that said, I've only been buying LV for about two years, so I am really too new to the brand to be able to note any decline in quality. But I know that most products in the world are no longer made the way they used to be. Too many manufacturers are trying to cut costs nowadays.

I am planning on taking it back. I really should have asked about it when I was in LV last week but I didn't think about it at the time. I kind of hope they will replace it instead of try to send it off for repair. And I searched and searched and found 1 thread about this happening on another Neverfull.

I hope you'll have good luck returning it...LV is notoriously very strict when it comes to returns. When my ebene NF first began to peel, I called the 1-866 customer service number because I wanted it exchanged for another one. (I had no idea about the strap issues at the time that I ordered it.) When I read about the strap glaze problem here, I kinda freaked out a little, and prayed that it wouldn't happen to me. The problem was mentioned in several threads. This was two years ago, it was my first LV, and at that time I had never spent so much on a bag before. But after using it for a few months, the glaze did peel.

Since I ordered it from the LV website rather than a boutique, the customer service person on the phone asked me to send it in, with a note describing what was wrong with it. Then they'd inspect it. I shipped the bag out to the address that they gave me. After a few days went by, I called them back to check on the status, and was told that the exchange had been rejected, and that the same bag was on it's way back to me. The man said that there was nothing wrong with the straps. And that they couldn't take it back because the bag had been used (I didn't realize or even think about their return policy at the time, because I was extremely new to the brand). Anyway, his response made me absolutely LIVID! I was SO furious! His main issue was that the bag had been used, and I told him that this wasn't the point! The point was that my bag was practically new and was peeling already, and that it was inexcusable on a bag that cost what that one did. I asked for his supervisor's name and number, and called her the next morning. She assured me that there would be no strap failure (breakage) unless extreme force was applied (which of course, I wouldn't do) and informed me that repair was an option.

I was angry at first but eventually I just let it go, and kept using the bag. It is still one of my favorite daytime bags (although I use my Batignolles Horizontal more; it's straps are wider and more comfortable). I figured that the peeling on my NF was most likely not noticeable to anyone but me. I got accustomed to it, and made myself quit obsessing about it. It's still a great bag, which I enjoy using and am glad to own. The experience taught me that just because something may be expensive and high-end, that doesn't mean that it can't have problems and/or flaws. I don't think that it's a quality issue with the NF, I think it's a design issue with the straps. Another TPF member once posted that she owns a Gucci bag similar in style to the NF, with narrow leather straps, and that it has peeling glaze on it's straps too. Anyway, sorry for the long post, I just wanted to let you know my experience, so that you'll be prepared for what the SA's might tell you. Of course, if by any chance they do let you return it, then that's awesome. Let us know what happens!

Exactly, it's a design issue. The same problem occurs with Goyard's St. Louis Tote. Thin straps + glazing = cracking, no matter the brand.

Just as I suspected. It's a shame, because I think the NF is a nice looking bag. I had wondered if the Goyard St. Louis, with it's similar structure, had that exact same problem. Now I know. And the St. Louis is much more expensive than the NF, so I can imagine the reactions the people who have had this problem with theirs. The next time I see a St. Louis (and they are quite common around here) I'm going to try to look as carefully at the straps as I can without being obvious about it. I want to see if I can spot some peeling, cracking glaze.

I wouldn't wear it over your shoulder with a sleeveless top. It was really strange because the cracks didn't start happening during the summer. They started in the fall. First it was one and then quickly spread the entire length of both top edges....

What?! I must have missed your post before about this story of your Artsy issue...I'm so sorry that this happened to you! It's absolutely OUTRAGEOUS. This happened to a $1,600.00 bag...oh hell to the no! I'm really glad that they compensated you with a gift card for the value of the bag. I'm relieved to hear that they did the right thing for a customer who paid good money. But you shouldn't have had to complain about it. They should have given you the gift card right from the beginning after you showed them the cracks in the bag. And if deodorant does this to a canvas Artsy, what effect might it have on an Empriente Artsy? I shudder to think....Yikes!

Dear ladies, I noticed that the zipper of my Tivoli gm has become very stiff after storing it for awhile. I bought it in 09. I thought its due to storage but today I decided to check on the zipper of my very old speedy35 and the zipper is still so smooth. Nothing like my Tivoli at all. Anyone had any problems with stiff zippers? Or is this a quality issue?
