LV and the quality

I think that's what the SAs were implying. They said the U.S. made better canvas bags (which I disagree with) and they like to manufacture things in the countries that do it the best...their other example were their shoes that are made in Italy. *shrugs

One of the SA also explained that they transfer people from France to the U.S. to train them so it should all be the same.

Hey, thanks so much for the info!!! I REALLY want a MIF bag, but I've kinda lost hope in finding one. I haven't been to the LV boutique in my state yet (we only have one), and I am a little hesitant to go because I'm afraid I'll get a snooty SA. I dealt with a rude SA in one of the boutiques in NY, so that's why I'm a little hesitant. I was thinking about just ordering from LV's website so I don't have to deal with anyone... LOL.

One quick question for you: What did you mean that LV is leaning towards having canvas bags MIUSA and leather bags MIF? Do they want to start making ALL of their canvas bags in the US?

I guess it really shouldn't matter where my bag is made... just as long as the quality is the same, it will be OK.

I would love to shop at your LV boutiques. The ones in Toronto don't live up to the ones you frequent.

i think the quality of all lv bags are amazing, truly worth the money, and the guarantee they have on all there products. The best part is if you ever have a problem with ur bag or wallet they will send it to get fixed no questions asked and you dont have to pay anything!

I purchased a speedy 25 at a consignment shop in the late 90s. The bag is in great shape, except the handles are really dark. I use hand cream a lot and didn't know that it would cause the handles to darken so much. However, it is still a beautiful, well-made bag. I was thinking about selling it since I prefer to carry hobo bags. However, after reading this thread I think I will keep it. It may be one of the last of the "high quality" bags.

I do, I purchased a LV Artsy a year and a half ago and it's cracking all along the top of the bag, this is very sickening to me bc the bag cost$1400,none of my older lv's ever had any kind of cracking, peeling, etc! I hope LV stands behind there products bc this bag is going back and I am determined to get a new one.

Good Luck cause LV really doesn't care about your bag after a year. That's all they give you a year warranty. I'm sure they'll turn it around and say it was that you didn't take care of it. I have tons of LV and I stop buying their handbags two years ago. Between their prices going up and the bags being Made different in not holding up as well. I went back to Coach, DB and Burberry. You have to wonder how much are people willing to pay for a speedy in a few years. LV doesn't care about their customers only of they're handbags

I called Saks today and they told me to bring the bag in so they can look at it, I am hoping they see that it is a defective bag and not my fault, if not this will be my last purchase from LV.

if you know someone who's from dubai that you can ask to buy for you your lv's, it would be nice coz they only selll made in france lv's here in the shops. when i bought my speedy i asked my SA to give me a made in france bag and he said we only have made in france bags here. altho for the wallets they sell made in spain as well...

altho not all made in france is perfect in stitching. i duno maybe its just that im so OC when it comes to my bags lol. coz i hated the fact that the speedy i got had some parts that was not stitch nicely lol. but yeah, my husband just gave me a bump in the head and said well thats the beauty with that bag, its not perfect coz its not machine made. he told me just enjoy your bag. i just replied and told him, ypu wont understand! lol :P

I would have to say the quality of LV bags has declined just as the prices have risen. I have been buying LV for over 10 years. The first bags I bought were made so well. To this day, the stitching and glazing is still perfect. My most recent purchases have been a mono neverfull Mm (maroon edging is fading and fraying like crazy) and a Trevi pm (leather around top opening is "puckering and stretching" and zipper is not smooth. Also, the shoulder strap is looking worn and I don't even use it much!) Yes, LV will fix it of they deem it defective. If they think it is my doing, they will charge me. Nevertheless, I will have to do without both bags for a couple of months while they are repaired.

Honestly I used to make a big deal that all my bags were MIF but I have to tell you my LV speedy 35 MON that I bought that is MIF which I had my SA go through and find me really looks like it was sewn by a blind man. I just received my new Speedy damier 35 ebene that is made and USA and the stitching and bag is flawless. I have the Bass GM Macassar Messenger bag that is MIF and I have had it replaced 3 times due to quality and stitching issues, not repaired replaced.

I couldn't agree more. When you close my speedy 30 idylle, the fabric doesn't line up. Apparently this has been a common problem in this purse. I try hard to not let it bother me since I can't return it anymore!

I think that the quality has gone down. The materials just seem....lighter or thinner to me. The only comparison of the same bags that I have is with my speedies-my most recent speedy (from I believe 2010) feels much lighter than my speedy from the 90's. I don't have any other "multiples" so I can't really compare other bags from the past. Also, the hardware turns silver MUCH more quickly than it used to. I know that I use things the same way I have always used them, but my zipper pulls, etc...turn silver fairly soon after use.

:mad:I am having the same problem with my Artsy MM. The bag was purchased in July of 2010. The entire top edge of the back has small cracks (splits) going down it....I am NOT happy. I went to the LV store on East 57th Street in NYC and went to the customer service department only to be told that it is a flaw with that bag. They told me that because it is carried over the shoulder under the armpit that my deodorant probably caused the canvas to crack! I cannot believe that. I have several Louis Vuittons and have never had this problem. I e-mail Louis Vuitton corporate today and complained. We'll see what they say....Stay tuned...

^^^ that is horrible. Well what did they suggest you do about it? Are they willing to repair it? Who did you speak to there? The person I normally deal with is Erica..

Loving My Louie's...
