:mad:I am having the same problem with my Artsy MM. The bag was purchased in July of 2010. The entire top edge of the back has small cracks (splits) going down it....I am NOT happy. I went to the LV store on East 57th Street in NYC and went to the customer service department only to be told that it is a flaw with that bag. They told me that because it is carried over the shoulder under the armpit that my deodorant probably caused the canvas to crack! I cannot believe that. I have several Louis Vuittons and have never had this problem. I e-mail Louis Vuitton corporate today and complained. We'll see what they say....Stay tuned...

That is unacceptable. I would also be upset if it happened to my Artsy. Hope they will repair it for you free of charge. Keep us posted please.

Not true- my lv mono speedy 35 was made in france and i got it on thanksgiving 2011
Is the alignment perfect on the base below the vachetta? Theres a difference on mine. One side is perfect. The other side slightly off where the 4 points of the floral mono. Can't decide if I should go back and see if it's less obvious on another 35 . It's apparent when you hold the bag and look at the bottom

After posting here, I emailed the Louis Vuitton corporate office regarding my bag. Low and behold, I got a surprising call yesterday from the the store where I was told what was causing the problem (West 57th Street store in NYC). The girl said that my email was forwarded to them from corporate and that they were going to issue me a gift card for the value of the bag! I was actually pleasantly surprised. However, I have to first return my Artsy to them (which is understandable) and the gift card can only be redeemed at
a Louis Vuitton store. I purchased the bag from Louisvuitton.com so this kind of bothered me. I live in Rochester, NY and the nearest store is in Toronto. Fortunately, my husband has business in NYC next week and will be able to return my bag and pick up a new one for me. The girl from the store strongly suggested I NOT purchase another Artsy because she said the same thing would happen. I love the Artsy and really wanted to get another one. I am considering the Sully....Any thoughts???

Oh no! Did LV confirm it was deodorant that caused the cracks? I've only had my pre-loved one for a couple of weeks and it's from 2010. The canvas still is in great shape but the previous owner barely used it.....I wear a lot of short sleeve tops, especially here in South Florida....

Oh no! I can't believe that. 1600$ bag cracks because of deodorant. I am so frustrated. I got mine in December 2011.... :( argh

I wouldn't wear it over your shoulder with a sleeveless top. It was really strange because the cracks didn't start happening during the summer. They started in the fall. First it was one and then quickly spread the entire length of both top edges....

Sometimes I feel LV items need to come with "how to take care instructions". Investing so much money and then to find out you can't wear a bag on your shoulder because deodorant will damage your canvas is really unfair. These are things people would like to know before making a purchase.

Agreed

As much as I LVoe LV, I too think the quality is definately different. (bad). Especially the Neverfull! Thats one bag I own that I look at and wonder "whats going on here!?". The one I have is made in USA. I wonder if that makes a difference? The made in France one looks better than the USA one! I ask myself alot why am I spending so much when it seems my items are "wearing" faster than my older items..........sigh....... Im glad others have noticed.

I'm not sure who told you that, but it isn't true. Plenty of mono speedies made in France and they are still made there daily. You have to have a good SA snd be patient if you are buying in the US and want a MIF speedy, but it can be done. If you live in Canada, Europe, or any other country than the US, your speedy will likely be made in France. Mon Mono bags are made in France generally. So, I'm not sure who gave you that info, but it was wrong. Sometimes SAs will tell US customers that the only speedies sold in the US were the ones made here, but it's simply because they are too lazy to find you a MIF bag. I guarantee you, if you go to France to buy your speedy, it's not made in the US.

I will say though that per my SA, there is a difference in quality between the two. I wait for MIF bags. I only buy made in the US if I literally can't get MIF for some reason. They do not pay the CA workers very well here in the US, and the heritage and loyalty is not there for the workers, hence the quality issues are higher percentage wise. The mono zippy I recently returned perled in less than a month. It was made in the US and I didn't notice it when I bought it. Never again. Now I check and wait.

But speedies are definitely still made daily in France.

Hello there! You seem to really know your stuff, so I was wondering if you could help me out with something...

I just received my mono speedy 35 after ordering from louisvuitton.com, and to my surprise, I received a MIF bag. I really thought I was going to receive a MIUSA bag since it was coming from the LV warehouse in New Jersey, and of course, since I ordered it online. My question is - do they get shipments of MIF bags to the warehouses in the US? I am just wondering (not at all complaining because I am thrilled to have a MIF bag!) why I received a MIF bag after ordering from online. I wouldn't be as surprised to find one in a boutique, but I was just so sure that I was going to receive a bag that was made in the states. I would really appreciate any info. Thanks in advance! ;)

My husband resisted me getting LV for years and finally bought me the ebene Speedy 25 I wanted for my 55th (LV in roman numerals!) birthday. He surprised me a few days later by saying he took a good look at it and 'it's well-made and sturdy and well worth the $700'! This is a man who always thought one $50 bag at a time was all anyone needed.

I have seen on here that quality now is lower than it was in the past but I can't say because I don't have any older ones.

Honestly I used to make a big deal that all my bags were MIF but I have to tell you my LV speedy 35 MON that I bought that is MIF which I had my SA go through and find me really looks like it was sewn by a blind man. I just received my new Speedy damier 35 ebene that is made and USA and the stitching and bag is flawless. I have the Bass GM Macassar Messenger bag that is MIF and I have had it replaced 3 times due to quality and stitching issues, not repaired replaced.

Just out of curiosity, what is off about your MIF speedy 35? I just received my mono 35 that was MIF, and I almost took it back to exchange it because the sides (where the vachetta piping is sewn to the canvas) seemed to fold in a bit too much... like you can't see the vachetta piping if you are looking directly at the front of the bag because the canvas folds in and covers it. I don't even know if the way I described it makes any sense... LOL. But something seemed off about the stitching. I decided to just be happy with it and keep it. :smile1:

Exactly!!!! The piping is sewn funny and the bag doesn't resemble its shape because it sinks in and the piping almost seems like it is sewn wrong. Feel like it was sewn quick and sloppy.
