LV and the quality

I was about to make a post about Lv quality and came to see this, hah! I went to the store yesterday and got the Verona Pm in Damier as an Xmas gift for myself. I love the style but somehow disappointed with the straps' quality. I think its kinda hard and "cheap", no offend but I expected with that $$$, they should've made it lighter and softer. It hurt my arm after carrying it on for a few mins. I eventually purchased it 'cuz couldn't resist the bag's beautiful style...but now reluctantly deciding whether I should keep it. Anyone feel the same way as me? or is it just me being too picky

The straps of that bag has always been like that as well as the NF. The LV straps and handles are really tough unlike perhaps a Balenciaga or Mulberry bag.

I couldn't agree with you more. I picked up a Neverfull ebene (a bag i've always wanted) and I had to check 3 bags b/c the stitching was off on some, the material cut unevenly and folded very sloppy. I chose one where the stitching was more even than the others but when i got home I noticed that the inside lining wasn't lined up properly. I purchased it because i didn't want to face a price increase and I was told all the neverfulls we will have here are made in the usa. I still love the bag but wonder what the quality control is like now. Are they that popular that they are ignoring flaws just to get as many bags as they can out?

I'll always love LV but I am more careful now. I will check to make sure the patterns are aligned and stitching is done evenly and that the canvas isn't scratched. I would think that paying $$$$$ for a bag, you would expect someone has already done these checks before it reaches the boutique.

I noticed that it says your're in Canada, so maybe you can help me with a question! Do the boutiques in Canada mainly sell "made in France" bags, or are they mostly made in the USA? I am thinking of taking a trip to the LV store in Montreal so I can get a MIF bag. Thanks! :smile1:

Hi, I've only been to the Toronto locations and the most popular bags are made in the US. Speedy, Neverfull, Delightful, Evora. I was able to get an azur speedy 30 last month MIF. I was there (yorkdale) today and I looked at the Montorgueil, Totally, Alma and a LE lockit which were all made in France.

Which bag are you looking for?

I know how you feel. I want a ebene speedy 30 or 35 MIF and haven't been able to find one brand new. I'm not sure about the Speedy B 30 - you should call the boutique and ask them. That is a gorgeous bag too.:smile1:

Haha... so you feel my pain too! :hugs:

I think I will go ahead and call them first, and see what they say. How lucky of you to score a MIF azur speedy!

It was kind of funny....my SA told me NOT to buy it b/c I had just purchased a bag the week before. I couldn't pass it up! It was like buying the holy grail or something....never to be seen again!:D

Good luck on your search, if I stumble upon one, I'll let you know!!:smile1:

LOL! Just wondering - how come your SA advised AGAINST buying it? You would think they would encourage you to buy more bags, right?! :p

That would be great! Thanks for all your help! :flowers:

Yes, I agree the quality has gone down. I've been collecting LVs for 10 + years. I think quality has gone down, the bags I bought a decade ago is in better shape than my recent new buys. Very sad... but I think this is true for most luxury brands. Chanel's quality has gone down, too.

I agree that the quality has gone down too! The hardware changes to silver far too easily..
Anyone has any suggestions what would be a good LV investment now since most of their models have quality issues? I really like the Alma mono or damier. Has anyone met any quality problems with the current Almas?

I love stumbling upon something that I've already experienced and this is what I've learned on the hunt for a Speedy 30 in Damier Ebene that's MIF. My younger sister wanted her first bag to be MIF so she didn't give up. I went to all three locations in Toronto and the LV in Holt's Yorkdale was the WORST. I asked if they had any MIF and the SA that I spoke to basically asked, "If I find it, are you going to buy it?" I found that really rude because you're being paid to do your job and satisfy a customer. I told him yes but he didn't find one. =(

Next, we were off to the LV in Holt's Bloor St, and it's funny because the SAs there mark which ones are MIF so they knew right away, which was very convenient. But they didn't have any either.

Then I went to the LV boutique on Bloor St and met the NICEST SA that I've ever met at LV who helped us without insisting that we needed to buy anything and wasn't pushing my sister when she was being totally indecisive. They found one but by then, my sister went for the Monogram Speedy Bandouliere which is MIF (typically like all newer bags).

What I've learned is that, if your SA is rude, just leave and go to another LV boutique (preferably on a weekday, it's less busy). Also, all the SAs were telling me that most of the canvas bags will be MIUSA and the leather bags will be MIF - they said that is what LV's leaning towards. But don't give up now if you're looking for one. You just have to keep checking because they get random stock. =)

Good luck!!!

I also have to agree that the quality is not what it used to be with LV. I always thought that they prided themselves on quality craftsmanship. It seems that they are getting to be like Coach. They are in a hurry to put a new bag out there and none of these new bags appeal to me at all. I think the Neverful was the first bag to reall y make me say "Are they kidding or what"? (Sorry Neverful owners!). The Artsy is the latest piece to make me say WTF too! IMO there is no bag that can compare to the timeless beauty of the Speedy. I have two that I bought about 4 years ago and I still get compliments on them today. I don't think the craftsmanship on these bags are of any less quality, though. Speedy owners, let's stand proud because we have the best in the LV line!!! :yahoo:
Preach the word Sis!!!

Hey, thanks so much for the info!!! I REALLY want a MIF bag, but I've kinda lost hope in finding one. I haven't been to the LV boutique in my state yet (we only have one), and I am a little hesitant to go because I'm afraid I'll get a snooty SA. I dealt with a rude SA in one of the boutiques in NY, so that's why I'm a little hesitant. I was thinking about just ordering from LV's website so I don't have to deal with anyone... LOL.

One quick question for you: What did you mean that LV is leaning towards having canvas bags MIUSA and leather bags MIF? Do they want to start making ALL of their canvas bags in the US?

I guess it really shouldn't matter where my bag is made... just as long as the quality is the same, it will be OK.

i think the quality of all lv bags are amazing, truly worth the money, and the guarantee they have on all there products. The best part is if you ever have a problem with ur bag or wallet they will send it to get fixed no questions asked and you dont have to pay anything!
