LV and the quality

I just returned a wallet too, because the credit card slots were not cut correctly. They were too short to put cards in horizontaly and, if you put them in vertically, you couldn't snap the wallet flap to close. I think it was a stupid design flaw - inexcusable for an expensive product.

I totally agree with you. Although some of LV's small accessories still attract me, I'm not buying their new bags because of their obvious decline in quality. He***s on the other hand has always had much more consistent quality in both material and craftsmanship. I think it has a lot to do with how the company is run, He***s is mostly family run and they own 80% of the company's stock. LVMH on the other hand has a lot of shareholders to answer to, thus the push for mass production and higher profit.

unfortunately, i agree there seems to be a decline in quality. i wanted to get the damier graphite messenger but the hardware seems doubtful. i was thinking that it could be hard plastic too. now i am thinking to just get taiga viktor or another french brand. i cheated on LV yesterday and sneaked into H****s to ask about their range of bags. The H****s SA said definitely LV is losing its 'luxury' status because they are mass-producing and that many people 'upgrade' to H*****s because the quality is not compromised and even though you pay alot more for an H****s bag you get more WOW!
p/s don't get me wrong, still love LV, bought Graphite Porte Documents only recently.

My observations on LV quality is mixed. Some of the new designs very popular today, could not be made with the older, stiffer/thicker canvas. These bags are unstructured and a lighter canvas enables the bags to pleat or fold as they are designed. The brass hardware is now lighter than vintage bags, but the older brass was much heavier also, and with alot of cosmetic hardware on many new bags, they would be uncomfortably heavy to carry.

I have had to return a Lv wallet due to, what I consider, a design flaw. The credit card slots didn't fit credit cards! Inexcusable and probably LV rushed this new design to market to garner sales revenue.

Regardless, the number of new boutiques opening up monthly indicates the brand's popularity. Demand has not decreased but grown, even in this economy and despite the minor issues.

as LV churn out newer designs to meet the market demands, the quality somehow will fall...

when i first got my viktor about 3-4 years ago, I tot there was some design flaw on the side of the sling. There was some leather burn as the handle rub against the side of the bag. . . The leather came off after less than 1 week of usage...managed to get it exchange! Thank god for good aftersales service by LV. yeah!

My Cherry Blossom PTI wallet had uneven stitching all over the vachetta trim. I brought it back for repairs, it took 8 weeks with more damage than original. Sent it back again, this time I was given a wild goose chase of the whereabouts of this wallet and took 14 months to get back to me. When it finally did come back, the entire wallet was ruined: uneven stitching, pencil marks around the trim, scratched up on the brass corners, wallet was bent backwards on several places, stratches, black marks everywhere, glue over spray all over the trim. I have pictures to remember by for their crappy repairs. I demanded a refund! I could not believe believe the crappy service I received from both customer service, the repair facility and the rude staffs from the boutique. I think I get better service from the dollar store. Good thing most of the staff has changed now, good riddens to the old staff.

Think of it this way, lv has been around for decades and decades and decades.. it was a luxury travel goods maker then, and still is now. Quality stands the test of time

This is what I got after FIRST use of my damier graphite jorn.

This is my thread where i ***** about the quality and service render by LV: http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vuitton-faqs/is-this-normal-for-vuttion-bags-387093.html

i dont know if this counts but i have bought two LV items and been in the stores more times have NEVER had an SA be half way decent to me let alone nice. I work in customer service so i am always nice as i know what it is like to be in the other end.

I brought my first LV few weeks ago..
and yes.. I had some issue with their quality with my bag,
so I wanted to exchange it, but the other items in their store was WORSE..
so I kept my original one... because my original one was much better than those they had in the store... but still... I paid over 1000 for one freaking bag... they should have almost perfect quality.... its very sad, I dont think I am going to buy that much LV..although my bf said his gonna buy me a speedy :P other than that, i am sure i wont make anymore LV purchase.

I just bought an insolite wallet and found that one of the credit card slots is not cut evenly. I tried exchanging one, but can't find one in any of the local stores that is perfect. Not sure what I'm going to do...

hey..
I brought a bag.. and wasnt perfect, and the other same bags in other stores werent perfect either! so i just kept my original one... if you looked into more than one stores, and they are worse than what you have right now.. they probably dont have the "perfect"

my opinion:
the LV canvas was invented for trunks - flat rectangular surfaces.
the borders where covered with rectangular leather and nails.

nowadays we find canvas on wallets, slouchy bags, folded seams.
in the cold, when the canvas is stiff etc. the canvas probably was not ment to be bended and folded like we open and close wallets.

the quality is still there - as long as you have the canvas glues and nailed on a trunk, where the canvas is used the way it had been invented. with the bags and purses I am not so sure.

Ever since LV was taken over by e creation of e LVMH conglomerate, things have not been e same. If u read up on its history, you would have heard of Bernard Arnault, one of e richest man in France, if u read up, this man only cares about making $$ and profit with minimium cost, guess wat, he is e chairman of LVMH, thus explains e qualities of e LV products, it is not e same anymore. It is still quality but will not be e same as those from before e merger.
