LV and the quality

I have been collecting LV's for over 20 years, and I have notice some quality changes, but not enough to the point where I would stop purchasing the brand. Our handbags are made by humans, which are imperfect, so you can receive a product may have some minor issues.

Definitely.
I have bought and used LVs for the past 15 years and the new ones are not made very well (my most recent disappointment would be NF, that's why I don't ever want to buy NF. WHen I bought my Palermo, I had to pick 1 out of 5 and chose the better one than the rest (not BEST). WHy do I have to inspect everybag in stock to pick out the good one? Aren't they supposed to be made the same way? i.e. with lined up and mirroring prints, even stictching, mirroring placement of handle, etc.? But I love LV line, so I kept on coming back. Although I sometimes wonder when would my disappointment in quality of LV be so bad that I would stop buying LV altogether?

i think that with the MASS market at China and Asia, most of the brands will be thinking abt $$$$. I see the pics of Vintage chanel and the leather seem so much nicer than a recent 1-2yrs Chanel bag. The leather just seem so different. The shine, the 'puffy' feeling of the Chanel bag.

If normal bags can have straight sewing etc, its no excuse that 'handmade' items like LV (that use machines) cannot have straight sewing and its like that because its 'handmade'. Just like I bought the figurine (Precious moment) and every 'handmade' items have flaws in them. I have to choose the 'better' one out of the 'worse'.

Wish me luck because I'm going to get Tivoli and i hope there isnt much issue abt this. I think I better be skeptical and go through the bag with the mindset that its a $1000+ bag and yet might be $50 quality. Checking in details (zoom in to details) will be better than taking a short fast glance to see everything is alright.

Not only the quality is suffering, but it looks like they are cutting corners also by not putting inside zippers in most of their bags. It is really hard to find a bag anymore with an interior zipper. Most of my older bags have them, such as the Piano, but the new ones today do not. I miss the interior zippers...

I think LV quality is amazing. When I was looking at the mono speedy 25 in NYC, a lady put her bag on the counter next to me which was clearly a well loved speedy mono 25. She said, "this is what your bag is going to look like in 20 years." and went on to talk about how it was only $300 20 yrs ago. Anyway, any bag that can last that long and still be in style is amazing.

Ok, now I have a stupid question..is the mono speedy canvas really canvas or is it leather? It looks like leather, but they call it canvas. I was just wondering..I am really new at this and still trying to learn everything..thanks for the help.

Its egyptian cotton coated canvas

I just want to share this since it has to do with LV quality control. There have been lots of complaints about the Galliera & the hardwear tarnishing & leaving black marks on the vachetta, & some have said that their SA's have told them that the issue has been fixed since LV has considered it a manufacturing flaw. Many ppl thought that maybe the SA's were just saying this but I called the LV 1-866 # & inquired about this issue & LV told me that yes, they have fixed the hardwear issues with the Galliera & they now coat the hardwear so it won't leave black marks on the vachetta. Just thought I'd share this info. :)

I have 4 LV bags, 1 wallet and 1 eyeglass case and they are all over 20 years old and they are holding up very very well....all look great, all have normal wear but I think it adds to the look of the bags.

I am very happy with the quality of LV bags especially I love the epi leather collection. Even I wear the bags everywhere, do not care too much about them, they still look like new ones. My oldest is the Alma monogram canvas - 10 years old, epi about 5-9 years and damier 5-9yeras. No problems with zip, no scratches, only Alma mono canvas with the natural leather I do not like any more.
