Yes, I think that the scenes in Bordeaux must have been a particular concern, they looked chaotic ! I think it was there that the King was presented with a signed rugby ball by the Fijian rugby team, and serenaded quite beautifully by them. I have a feeling that the ball may be offered on loan to the RRS - Sunday past, Company 3's Fijian choir sang at Crathie Kirk for the King and Queen ! I saw a photo outside the Kirk on twitter @bkacoy_oc , if anyone is interested. Their OC wore a green plaid suit like Jonny's, so perhaps the costume regs have changed.
The RRS Dress Regulations Manual does not contain images of their tweed material or a suit. The RRS online shop used to display an image of the official regimental tweed and it was a "brown" type of color. Their image of this tweed was online yesterday but has since been taken down and is no longer available for view. We have all seen Jonny in the paler tweed while performing Royal duties with the King (Balmoral Honour Guard welcome, Braemar Gathering). If the current OC is also wearing it on duty, then it must be an approved RRS form of dress. I'll continue to peek in on the RRS Shop and if Jonny's tweed pops up, I'll post a photo.

I wonder if anyone can help please. Do you know who the man in the photo is? Jonny is speaking to his wife at The Lonach Gathering and they were also at Balmoral when The King met with Balaklava Company. The reason I wanted to know is that Jonny hasn’t been seen with The King since France but this man is with him on visits. ThanksView attachment 5869864
Alexander better known as Sandy Manson, Lord Lieutenant for Aberdeenshire.

Could be the Lord Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire and his wife??? Just a suggestion.

I think the Officer in the photo may be RRS Company 3's Officer in command as the choir is from that Company. We saw Jonny's replacement with Balaklava 5 make the official welcome to the King at Balmoral in August and he looked quite different.

I think the more you read the more confusing it all becomes
It is so easy to make mistakes when attempting to discuss all of this because it is so complex. There are so many titles and departments/divisions within the Royal Household. Like a huge Royal jigsaw puzzle. Just next to Jonny's title of "Groom of the Robes", several other titles are also listed. I must say that Jonny did a superb job of knowing which garment was for each step throughout the Coronation.

Edit: Removed something that was close to being off-topic.

I had three "live" media feeds going simultaneously and was posting to our chat as well. This being two weeks ago, I cannot recall which news stream it was, nor the specific day or event. I could clearly see Jonny being knocked on the side of his head by a camera and later, another person elbowing him in the back. All while he stood firm, staying them behind his back. There was so much filming for the duration of the France visit, by so many media sources. That part of the day's film most likely ended up being edited away because it was a general crowd scene without the King or Queen, as I recall.

Edit: The word "general" added
It was definitely in Bordeaux in the afternoon, there was so much going on, I'll keep looking anyway, as alot of the news streams are archived in full.

KILTS!!! And a lovely lady in lemon.

I have to say, my favourite Tartans are definitely the green based, with blues, mauves, pinks. I love the new King Charles Tartan. My least fave is the red/scarlet Wallace Tartan. A bit too garish for my taste. Sorry folk with Wallace Ancestry.
When we watched Jonny and the King at the Lonach gathering, we observed all manner of tartans on display. I believe Clan Wallace may have more than one tartan. There is the Wallace Dress/Wallace Red but there is also the Wallace Hunting/Wallace Green. Other tartans have also been used. It can all become confusing because it seems that tartans fall in and out of favor depending upon the opinion of the current Chief of the Clan.

The RRS tartan that Jonny wears is the one on the right. I think I remember reading that it was inherited from the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and has become the RRS tartan for both kilts and trews.
EDIT: Added the RRS tartan

Follow up on the RRS tweed. The RRS continues to update their website. The "brown" Regimental tweed has reappeared on the site but has been shifted to a different category. Still no mention of the lighter color of tweed we have seen Jonny and others wearing. I am surprised the "RRS Dress Regulations" manual does not include a page for the Regimental tweed and what to wear with it such as the Regimental tie, brown footwear, etc. While it is not a uniform, it seems to be recognized Regimental dress. The manual we have been studying has an "Introduction" by Late Majesty QEII. In time I expect the RRS will update it to include an "Introduction" by the King. Perhaps some of the content pages will be updated at the same time.

Wallace Green is preferable to the scarlet for my tastes. But the RRS Tartan has to be my favourite, striking but classy and stylish, and looks equally good on Trews. I hope we see Jonny in his RRS Trews again soon.

Wow, this video from 2 years ago goes into so much detail what skills you need to be accepted onto the Army Officer's course at Sandhurst. It outlines what the board is looking for in each candidate and what physical, mental, aptitude and interview tests are involved. You even have to do written tests on Geography, Politics, Current Affairs, Maths, the list is endless! Fascinating!

When RomeGirl told us how hard Jonny has worked to get where he is and been tested along the way to reach the next level, I didn't realise to even get into be trained to be an Officer requires so much effort!

Isn't it all so interesting! I have not seen this particular video. I'll look at it and then come back to you so we can discuss it!!! :yahoo:

Just in time for Soldier starting this week.

Thursday 5 October at 9pm on BBC One and the series will then run weekly.

Typical! The new series of All Creatures Great and Small is starting on Channel 5 at exactly the same time....Will have to watch one on catch up.
