It must be very difficult because he always seems to have everything well planned but of course these are not his plans so everything has to be double checked. He looks happier at the end but it must be very stressful.
There will have been months of complicated liaison with the Elysee, coordinating and then double checking. The King relies on Jonny to prompt him, reminding him who he will be meeting, where they are going, and what will be happening. He also keeps the King on time, something the other Equerries don't manage as well.

There have been minor disasters, avoided by quick thinking at the last minute, when others have not kept the King to his timetable.

Sometimes, if you are eagle-eyed, as in earlier today, you will see Jonny checking his watch when they are out and about. But it's when he starts rocking back and forwards on his heels that you know he is getting frustrated and things are in danger of going awry. (That or he wants his lunch!)

He does have his little 'tells' as to how he is feeling.

Jonny doing his job. After the King finishes speaking Jonny discreetly appears to take his notes from him.

Your screengrabs are so much better than mine, many thanks!
I see Jonny did have a haircut since we last saw him at Braemar.
Thank gawd for French TV online showing the speech live, though shame on all the British so called news channels who didn't broadcast the King's Speech, and it was awkward to have the mic behind the table, so they had to turn around.
I hope Jonny enjoyed the dinner prepared by Michelin starred chefs. And he sleeps well for a busy day tomorrow.

If he does the usual, he will be up late going over tomorrow's schedule, making sure he has everything covered. He takes his job very seriously, even though the most the public usually know about it is seeing him trailing along behind, taking gifts and flowers from the King and Queen.

He is also a very well trained fighting man, and if necessary would do whatever was necessary to protect the King or Queen. When he is out and about with them, his eyes never stop moving, aware of everything around him while he remains fixed on the King or Queen, there immediately if they need him.

My assessment would be he is very very good at his job. Especially In comparison to the lack of concentration of one of the Equerries.

Beautifully said. I hope the rest of the visit goes splendidly and is as well done as those earlier today. Wishing Jonny a good sleep and looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.

(That or he wants his lunch!)

I wanted to ask you about that. The Royal Family are notorious for skipping lunch during a day of engagements, though I did see Jonny hand the King a cup of tea in Yorkshire - where else?! - which is tough on the team around him, particularly during the heatwave, they must've struggled. Are they allowed to have a sandwich and flask of tea/coffee in the van in between engagements? I do hope so. Or maybe just water? But then comes the issue of needing the loo.

I have noticed the watch checking and his facial expressions, he raises his eyebrows. It is well known that The King doesn’t suffer fools gladly so it’s a real compliment for them to have such a good working relationship even if it is stressful.

I think it would be safe to say that Jonny makes sure he is fed through the day - however he manages it.

There was a tiny moment during the Coronation, as they were all leaving and the King had stopped to speak to some of the Faith Leaders (by memory). Jonny is there quietly waiting, when he starts rocking... All of us watching together said at the same time, "Jonny's hungry and wants his lunch."

Those who saw all the coverage from Germany might have noticed how amazingly animated Jonny became at the Food Market... and how suddenly he didn't seem to care about being in the background.

And that is, I think, probably too much said. Luckily I know you all appreciate him for the right reasons, and care about him.

Bed for me, so I am bright eyed and bushy tailed for tomorrow's schedule.

Night all.

I'm still up so looked through 1800 getty pics from French photographers, very disappointing, especially of the Banquet. None of Jonny. Mostly zelebs or Football Managers who have a connection with UK. Who cares! We want Jonny pics.
Thank god for the French TV coverage and RomeGirl's screengrabs. BBC News review of the speech was awful. Clueless. Royal coverage of the King is so annoying.
