Hi,

I cannot find a date stamp on my Neverfull Damier GM. I bought this bag from a Louis Vuitton store in 2013. The bag was made in U.S.A. No date stamp under the zipper tab. Bummer..

Update:
Finally found the date code. It was hidden and difficult to see all four digits... whew....

Bonsoir from France.
I have a Sarah Wallet (new version) in epi black. The date code is hidden in the front card slots : second up slot on the right along the seam. Thanks to let me know. Florence

I can't see why LV would decide to discontinue using date codes after 30 some years, especially considering that it serves a practical function in tracking batches and customer's pieces when sent off for repairs. If it IS true though, then is it in an attempt to cut down on the re-sale market as the majority of authenticators use it as an identifier? It would make sense if that's the case and the gossip about needing a receipt for repairs is also valid

Either way, I'll believe it when I see it or other members can confirm if this is the case.

I have watched minks4all on youtube. Part of her monday Q&A today

I have to say I don't really care but why would LV give out production information to a member of the public over the telephone? They like to shroud their "datecodes" in secrecy anyway so I can't imagine them saying "we're doing away with them" to anyone. It's like giving the counterfeiters a head start! Why would you? Makes no sense to me.

Florence,

Thank you so much for the info on where to find the date code in the Sarah wallet. It was exactly right where you said....hiding in the right seam of the front card slot second up. I have been looking everywhere for the date code for over a year. All it said was Louis Vuitton Paris. I even brought it into LV so they could find it for me. They couldn't find it therefore I was told that LV doesn't always put the datecode in some of the slgs, especially the wallets. She then took out a few Sarah wallets to see if they had a datecode. She couldn't find it in them either, so she said look, see, no datecode. I think they need to be taught on where to look instead of assuming it just wasn't given one.

I purchased a Lockme II and a Neverful pm last week at an LV boutique, but neither seems to have a date code. I called customer service and they said that LV puts codes in random bags (of each type) and that I shouldn't be concerned if there are no codes present. Is that accurate? I was under the impression that all LV bags had a code.

I don't know about these bags you just bought, but it is sometimes very difficult to find the date code. It is not intended to be read by the customer, it is only a code for the repair team. That's why on some items it is almost impossible to read.

There was a rumor earlier this year that small leather goods would no longer have date codes. I'm not sure if that's accurate. The wallet I bought and January has a date code.

I noticed the same thing when I bought my Estrela NM 3 weeks ago! I got the same answer from customer service as well...My style was a MIF model since I bought it in Europe, I thought that might have something to do with it? Customer service recommended to me that I just keep the receipt as proof of authenticity.

They are right because date codes are certainly not a proof of authenticity

For the Neverful, look for the tab underneath the "flap" pocket. It should be sewn in the seam on the right side.

Thanks NancyFancy. I checked where you suggested and didn't find a code. A Neverful mm I purchased a year ago has a code so I expected a code on this one as well. (The MM with the code was made in the US, the pm without the code is MIF. I don't know if that matters.)

Thanks Mandee5421- Both bags were MIF too. I know they are authentic because they were purchased at the store, but I am concerned that if I ever decide to sell either one, prospective buyers will question the authenticity. I'm glad you were told the same thing about codes from customer service - I actually wondered if the rep was kidding 🙂
