Lots of people don't like to dangle a motif - my friend went to dinner the other night wearing three in a row that way. For her it wasn't about buying a necklace or not, she just LOVES the idea that the bracelet can do double duty and will not shorten it so that she has the option. I wouldn't dangle a motif, but I do have a five on my list which I will never shorten either; I may wear it as a bracelet on occasion but will also use it as an extender for my 10.

I personally DO like wearing two bracelets as a necklace. Lengthwise it is fine on me. The only trick is to wear a blouse with a collar; between my hair and the neckline, no one is going to see more than two or three motifs anyway, much less a clasp (I'm not exactly swinging my head around either, so it doesn't shift much). I have done this in the past and was very happy with this option.

This is a 10, but you can see with a blouse you're not seeing many motifs, anyway:

I took a screenshot of a woman on IG wearing a 5 motif loose, and it looks elegant. It may work best as a single bracelet and not stacked, but if one does not mind untangling them, maybe multiple can work also.

Updated to add, this woman shows up frequently on my IG feed because they make a lot of videos, I think it is a resale business called “to be continued”. However, it is very hard to get a clean screenshot of how she wears her bracelet because she moves her hands a lot when she talks.

sooo I went into the Manhasset boutique today “just to see”. Anyway, this is a five motif linked with my ten.

what kind of five motif?
who knows??
you can’t see it at all anyway.
you can’t even see the clasps (I turned it a touch and pushed my hair back so you can see the one on the right, the tag is attached).
perhaps I have a fat neck? :giggle:

This is how my sits and my bracelets are shorten. Not sure why I bother buying matching bracelets to wear this way….but I do!

Would the alternating pave guilloche 10 look as symmetrical as this is when paired with the 5 motif. This looks beautiful.I am pondering special ordering the 10 alternating that you have, to pair with my 10 motif guilloche but am concerned the clasps will be too visible and the pave motifs will be lopsided or not centered. I just don't want to look lopsided but I like creating a 20 motif!

hmm...good question. I have been going back and forth on whether I should get the alternating 5 to match; that will essentially look like this. With a 10 you will definitely see the clasps. Funny because I have considered the same exact thing - should I get a 10 Guilloche eventually to extend?

I suppose at some point I should try the alternating with the Guilloche 10 so that we both will know the answer. ;)

Here are pics of two bracelets with 6 links removed and one with 8 links.
For reference my wrist is 13.5 cm.
I fit both both. I did 6, but I think I prefer 8. Wonder if I will make the adjustment. My mom likes 8 links removed. According to VCA, 8 is the most they will remove.View attachment 4785348
I like being able to see a lot of motifs at one time. And a lot of shifting around bothers me.

Hello,
I know it's an old post but I haven't find the information somewhere else, will you be able to tell me the length of your bracelet with 6 links removed (in cm if possible) ?
I would very much appreciate your help.
Thank you in advance,
Iris

15.5 cm. Once you link it you lose maybe a little less than a quarter cm.

Question if you don't mind! So, shortening the bracelet means that you can't wear it as a necklace? Do you mind explaining that to me? I think I would need 8 links removed but before I do that, I want to know if that means I can't wear it as a necklace. Thanks!

I am sure she will give you a more informed answer, but I will just mention that the bracelets are 7.5 inches, so using two for a necklace means almost 15 inches linked together. If you can comfortably wear a necklace shorter than 15", you could shorten the bracelets. It all depends on the size of your neck and the length you need for your necklace. At 15", the two bracelets are already shorter than one 10 motif necklace. Most people would not be able to wear two shortened bracelets as a necklace.

Oh, I see! My plan would be to attach the shortened bracelet to one of my vintage alhambra necklaces so I think I should be able to still wear as a necklace.

If your necklace is original length then the number of links between motifs (spacing between motifs) will be quite visibly different unless the necklace is shortened as well. Wouldn’t be my preference, personally, unless you can wear them such that only the bracelet or necklace is visible at any time!

This was what I am hoping to do after removing 4 links instead 6 links of a snug fit.
Do you find twisting stay where it is? not returning to its original length?

Basically you twist the chain so it bunches up slightly. Mine are the two motifs at the bottom, closest to the clasp, so I don’t really see the twisted chain. Sorry for the poor quality pic and dry hands.
