You all are making me feel so young! I actually turn 40 next month and I'm cool with it...I really am!

iluvmybags - I love, love, love the quilted version. Have you seen it in black?

silverfern - The Happy looks fantastic on you and I love your top too! It really complements the bag.

I just looked at the black quilted one on the Lanvin website and I think that's the one I want. It's soooo pretty!

you should get it!!
I love the quilted Happy -- been trying to decide between the quilted and leopard version myself (pretty positive I'm going to go with the Leopard!). They're all so beautiful. While I haven't seen the Quilted Happy in person yet, I have seen the Quilted Happy Pop, which is the smaller version of the same bag -- it's made from the same leather and has the same type of chain/details. The leather is wonderfully soft and seems pretty durable. The leather on the quilted version is a little different than the soft/smooth version -- it's almost like a glazed over leather, protected somehow (not sure how to describe it). They're all so beautiful and unique in their own way!! If you decide to get one PLEASE post pics!!

No such thing as too old! I think that bag is a classic, timeless style, so you don't have anything to worry about.

Agree with lufc_girl, this bag can be carried by someone of any age.

iluvmybags, that colourway is gorgeous.

I like the leopard too that you have in your wish list, so you should go for it! There's also a poney skin that I would love to have, but I better get basic black first since that's what I really need. The bag is called crinkled leather on the website so maybe it does have some kind of coating on it? I would love to see it in person before buying, so hopefully I can find one where I live, otherwise I may have to wait for a trip to NYC or Chicago. I will definitely post pics when I get it.

Now I'm trying to decide between a chestnut python Chloe Marcie (also have not seen in person, only in pics) and the Lanvin. I want the Chloe, but I need the Lanvin. My husband laughs when I make statements like this because he says I don't "need" either of them. He just doesn't understand!

there's some good pics of the Quilted Happy in Taupe here:

maybe you can get an idea of the "glaze" or "coating" I was trying to describe. The bag in that pic is the actually the one that caused me to take notice of this bag and from there I just discovered all the other colors and textures and now I'm obsessed!:p

I'm working on saving towards the Leopard one -- hope to be able finally purchase it by this weekend!!

Since when is 40 old!!! Silverfern's picture really puts the bag in perspective. I think it is more of a ribbon flair than a bow appearance. Very classic bag. The ribbon just softens up the harshness of the chain a bit. I say go for it. Love the quilted versions.

IMHO, the beauty of the Happy bag is that it's perfectly suited to all ages! the ribbon softens the severity of the metal chain handles, and the shape is not as structured as other "premier" brands. i have admired/loved lanvin bags for a few years now, accumulated a few in the last couple of years, and plan to carry them well into the next decade! i have a good 5 years before i hit my 40s, but once i do, i plan to carry my lanvin babies to death!!

and the ribbon on the handles doesn't fray further, as i have owned several lanvin bags with these ribbons and can attest to this. i also recently bought a pearl-and-ribbon lanvin necklace and the frayed ribbon is part of the distressed look to give an otherwise conservative pearls an edgier look, which i love!

i say go for it, and once you do, please do a reveal on the "Let's Talk Lanvin" thread! :p
