I had a friend who made obvious effort to NOT look at or ask anything about my new birkin. She knew it was new because I had asked her advice before purchasing it. Then after lunch just said curtly "its kind of big".. Its a 35birkin...hmmm it was a strange lunch.

Jealousy, no questions about it. She would never dare say anything positive to you about your gorgeous new Birkin. It is really sad when people are like that. I, unfortunately have parents like that.

You can't have something they don't have, even if they would never want what you have because to them it means you are better then them and it is unacceptable.

It hurts when people you love are that way but you can't change them, it's the way they are and we just have to accept it.

Unfortunately I think you are right...sad...because I enjoy nice things and have worked my butt off to be able to afford them. I don't have many friends around me that are in the same financial situation...so I am pretty careful about sharing information about new purchases...it's why I am on this forum a lot...it is to be able to share joy and excitement with others!!

Agreed! And well said! I have family members like that as well. [emoji17]

I haven't used my picotin that I bought 2 days ago but I did take lots of pictures of it. I was sharing it with a friend who is also into bags (she has a gold evelyne III gm) and then she just looked at the picture, turned her back then said "it's so ugly." I'm so crushed... i haven't even used it yet 😢
There are many of us that love Picos on this forum and from what I've seen, we all have good taste. So please don't be crushed because your friend said something mean about your bag. If you love it, that's all that matters.

if the "your pico is ugly" woman is truly a nice person, she will apologize for her remark. That was just nasty, whatever her reasons. When such things happen i am usually speechless, but i wish i had the poise to look the person in the eye and ask calmly, "why in the world would you say such a thing?" polite bewilderment at someone else's bad behavior puts them on the spot: A truly nice person will then apologize/explain, a not-very-nice person will usually double down on the insults. It's telling.

I am a bit late chiming in here, but I just wanted to encourage you to pay no attention to your friend or her comment. I have a very good friend that I often travel and shop with. We have very different tastes and style. She is quite outspoken and will frequently tell me that she "hates" something I am considering buying or that it is so "ugly".

It doesn't bother me and she isn't being mean. She just has a very different style than me and a brash way of speaking. While I never tell her that I "hate" what she is wearing or carrying, I know that it's rare for me to ever like it.

I trust my taste and know what I love. If she doesn't like it, I figure I must be doing something right. Sometimes her dislike is further validation to me :)
