I don't have a H bag yet but this thread reminded me of an experience with a catty colleague. we were waiting for the train with other colleagues when she suddenly asked and exclaimed loudly "how many bags do you have?!! 5? 10? is your collection $20,000 worth? can buy a Hermes you know..." I was trying to sshh her because it wasn't appropriate to talk abt my luxury bag collection infront of others, but she went on and on and even asked another colleague abt her H bags. she wasn't into brands but just wanted us to feel shamed abt our bags I guess.
If the "your Pico is ugly" woman is truly a nice person, she will apologize for her remark. That was just nasty, whatever her reasons. When such things happen I am usually speechless, but I wish I had the poise to look the person in the eye and ask calmly, "Why in the world would you say such a thing?" Polite bewilderment at someone else's bad behavior puts them on the spot: A truly nice person will then apologize/explain, a not-very-nice person will usually double down on the insults. It's telling.
Apologies, I'm sure she is usually a nice person, but reading what she said to you got me mad on your behalf! Hopefully it was just her having a bad day, but even then, to me there really is no excuse for saying something hurtful like that to a friend. Just don't let her comments dampen your excitement over your lovely new purchase

I didn't know what the Picotin was (just looked it up on line). And I think it looks nice. I have to agree with a other tpf member that this bag is many things and one of them is not ugly. People who make rude comments are ugly on the inside.
i feel for you.. my hubby gave me a wise advice about being careful who you share your joy with material things.. IRL it's more often you will find bitter or jealous ppl than those who will be happy for you, esp if you and these "friends" are not of same financial comfort to pay for H level of pricey.. enjoy your bag.. YOLO..
Different groups of friends, family or in-laws. I've learned to carrying different types of brands according to my surroundings. I've had my fair share of feeling uncomfortable with the eyes and awkward questions in the past. I'm never sure if it's a genuine curiosity or a backhanded compliment so instead of trying to figure out, I just avoid it completely now. It's sad that it's come to this but I have to remember that not everyone you know is like yourself . I only take out H when I know I'll be in a comfortable situation with certain people; otherwise I just whip out the Chanels.

+1, so true! This is exactly what I do on a daily basis.
Don't think this person has you best interests at heart. Please try to ignore what she said. Picos are so cute and harmless, she has a bigger problem than your innocent little bag.
