thankyou! glad you like the blog

not offended!! but we dont know the op's situation - so hard to generalise,

i feel the vast minority may be jumping on the bandwagon a little and trying to make a point which they have been trying to make well before this thread came along !! :smile1:

:confused1::confused1::confused1:

I think this is thread is starting to become the actual title of it.

Time to depart
Toodle pip.

Wow...I didn't expect so many responses so quick...it makes me feel better...Imagine if I had spilled the beans and let him know that this was birkin#2...lol. I mean guys spend money on LUXURY CARS...HELLO!!!!!!....ITS OK FOR THEM TO SPEND $80,000 ON A PORSCHE???....I mean to each his own...I'm single with NO CHILDREN..I own a brownstone...I don't own a car because I'm to lazy & irresponsible to get up and move it for alternate side of the street parking....and I have a classic wardrobe so I only need to update with a few NEW pieces, so what's the big friggin deal about me spending MY MONEY on a Birkin???...but from what my friend says it MAKES ME APPEAR HIGH MAINTENANCE...HENCE...THAT'S WHY I'M STILL SINGLE...oy vey!!!...lol

Your money, your bag, your business :ghi5:. Although my bf does not strictly approve of how much I spend (and that's one-hundredth of what I actually do) he does appreciate that I look nice to him and get admiring glances and comments occasionally.

Trust me, most men: metro, homo or hetro do not know

a) what a JPG looks like - some alas, not even a Birkin unless they are hit on the head with the bag

b) how much a JPG really costs - not even a Birkin unless they are hit on the head with the bill.

You are NOT single because you appriciate good quality leather and silk items and are willing pay for them.

This guy has been watching too many SITC repeats.

<If a "friend" of mine said something negative I wouldn´t automatically assume that it was because they were broke/ugly/stupid/ill/unemployed etc. like someone else posted. I would first take a glance at myself and make sure that I wasn´t the one coming off as self-centered, arrogant or narrow minded. Just sayin:D And I am probably guilty of coming off exactly that way at times:p>

Same here, Lovely. I find it's best to examine ones own motives before assigning blame to others.

^^to me the op came across as a reasonable person?? so much so she didnt even think of retaliating? I dont feel the op came across in a bad light - but we werent there we dont know, just have to judge on what we do know...peoples posts have to be read in full and taken in the way they are meant surely?? im sure almost everyone here is here to help the op to deal with the problem she faced that day

sadly a tiny part of my original post has been copied on its own and taken out of any realistic reasonable context!!! same old, same old!!

I agree, that is my impression too. I was in no way intending my post to imply the OP, sorry if I was being unclear.

I have never had any nasty comments yet from friends, family or strangers (thank goodness) but I do have a friend who goes through phases.

At the moment he is going on a altruistic/no possessions phase (his last was his materialistic "do you think it will still be there in the sale phase"). I just remember what bag I was carrying last time and wear the same again and again when ever we meet - it just less uncomfortable for me while he's talking telling me about the evils of the 'West' 'rich' 'capitalism' etc (I love a good debate and I love him too).

We a make our own choices of where we spend our money and what our latest obsession is.

Congrats on your JPG BTW

I have one.

15 years ago... carrying an ostrich Kelly. Stepping in at Benetton shop to collect some toddler clothing.

The SA looks at my bag and shouts :
"wow that is such a beautiful imitation ! It's perfect ! It is not worth to buy the real thing anylonger when you can get such a beautiful fake ! "

Me : Voiceless, I tried to stay polite and smile .... Anyway, I could not say a word.

wtf

But you know, something similar happened to me when I first joined this forum. I had just purchased my first Hermes bag, a Kelly. I went into the Chanel boutique at Tyson's Corner. As I was perusing the shelves one of the employees kept yelling "imposter" and then hiding, while snickering and looking at me and my bag.

To the OP: sorry you had to deal with that comment. When I deal with someone who does know how much my bag costs, they will often make snide comments about it. And I have heard the "you could buy so many bags with that much money, why spend it on just one," argument countless times. I have a friend who always calls my Hermes bags, "Herpes" bags. I just look at it as a sign of poor manners and jealousy. What he said was out of line.

Oh my....ok let's see if I can clear some things up.

I've worked since 13 (of course off the books & part-time). My family is working middle class, so no trust funds. In 2005 I was left a brownstone in brooklyn by my great aunt who had died from breast cancer. I don't work because I suffer severly from FIBROMYALGIA, I was diagnosed in 2007...if I could work I would....I've never been married, I don't have any children, and I don't get men to buy me things....I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING I BUY CHEAP or EXPENSIVE BECAUSE I BUSTED MY HUMP working HARD for it. I've always had a good job MAKING EXCELLENT MONEY (started waitressing, bartending then eventually General Manager) and when I was in my early 20's I saved money buying cheap clothes...I shopped at rainbow and mandees, allowing me to spend more money on shoes and bags....I don't wear valentino, chloe, st john, alexander mc queen, gucci, or stella mc cartney....although I would love to. I buy true religions, citizens, 7's, AG's Jeans, and I own 1 pair of ROLANDO LOUBOUTINS.

Ladies I started the thread wondering if anyone has had a not so positive respone...and if they did to simply share their story...it wasn't meant to cause a problem.

^^ I know!! all this drama!! its not needed for you to explain your position but thankyou for sharing as maybe it will demonstrate how we never know - cant judge a book by its cover - dont worry!:flowers:
