Chanel - that is too funny!

I introduced my mom to my vintage kelly last night, and even though it was 1/10 the price of a new one, mom still just muttered how she "could never spend that much on a bag". :shucks: I live in a pretty small town...have never even seen anyone else with anything H (other than one lady who has some scarves) so I'm expecting a lot of people who either will be clueless or rude....

Worst for me was a lady coming over and asking very loudly if my birkin was real in a crowded restaurant. When I said it was she then said, "oh in that case it is beautiful". And turned and walked straight off!!!!

The best has been the complements I get when carrying my indigo sellier Kelly 35. :smile1:

I guess the lady was jealous :roflmfao:

And sorry I did not know there is such a thread otherwise I wont start one :shame::shame::shame:

Just found this thread and am fascinated by the subject . My H spending has been largely on scarves , over many years .

My latest 70cm silk prompted the following remark from a girlfriend !
Like your scarf, it's quite nice as far as your scarves go . ssssssss

I never had a rude or bad comment, but the best had to be during my last trip to NYC, in a museum line.

We had to open our bags so the museum security could check inside. I was carrying my raisin 35 B, and the security guard peeked inside and nodded okay.

I walk a few paces when suddenly there was a light tap at my elbow, and she was beside me. In basically one breathless stream: "Excuse me, is that the Michael Kors Hamilton bag? it is so beautiful, I plan on buying one someday. do you think i could just touch the leather?"

i was caught off guard-- i was still wondering if maybe i'd left a water bottle in there or something -- and nodded yes. she stroked the bag, thanked me and i thanked her for the compliment. i never clarified it wasn't a Michael Kors, because at that point i felt it would be a disappointment to her, i couldn't do it! :smile1:

i just had a girl come up to me and go "OMG where did you get your birkin??" i said hermes :p she said, i know but how do i GET one?? is there like a password or something??
LOL :p not rude but funny

I often use my birkin to carry my latest knitting project.....

Lol !

Worst (because I was a bit ashamed) but also quite funny comment came from one of my aunties when I introduced her to Hermès.
At that day, we were showed a 35 Birkin (I didn't own any Birkin at that time yet). My aunt closely inspected the bag and said without blushing while the SA was standing next to us: "Oh, those bags are perfect for grocery shopping. The vegetables I buy every Saturday would fit perfect in this" :shame:
That was until she found out the price of the Birkin....:p

People have done that to me about my jewelry. When they say that, I throw my shoulders back and say "Honey, everything I have is real".

I once had a little Hispanic girl inside a Target store point out my B to her mother, indicating she liked it, and then say to me, "I really like your bag, did you get it at the mall?"

To which I smiled, thanked her, and responded "yes". SCP is a mall, after all. :P

Love it.

LOL! I had to look up what the MK Hamilton bag looked like, and it only has a very vague resemblance to the B. But I love how you let the strange lady stroke your B, that is just too funny!

Got to hand it to her....the little girl has taste.... :-)

My family are aware of my habit for designer bags and my brother recently noticed my new 35B and asked what had changed to have me using what looked like a Coles shopping bag.

I didn't have the heart to tell him the cost was 5 times any of my previous bags - he thought I'd gone down market!!!!

I had a comment made to me today by a young girl as I was buying some hair product. "Oh your bag is beautiful, I saw a lovely one at (Highpoint) that cost over a $100 too." I giggled to myself for 5 minutes afterwards, the lovely young girl was thinking it was so nice that it would have to have cost over $100, I think she would have fainted had she known how much it really cost. So not rude or catty, just sweet.

i had a girl at a nail salon in Chicago walk by with her friend, and say "OMG look at her birkin!!" they both looked at it then the girl looked at me and said "omg, how much was it?? those are way too much money! thats like a 5 thousand dollar bag!!"

I had someone come up to me and compliment my 35 orange birkin. She loved the bag and the color and asked if it was Kate Spade. She asked if they still had them at the store? I thanked her and told her they might still be available...and good luck. She was very sweet, but no sense in going into it with her. You're either in the "know" or not. Ignorance is bliss.
