I don't think so! You have to ask these people who come up with these questions- When is the last time you donated to a charity (more than the $1 with your ebay purchase) or did community service? I bet they won't have any words when you ask them this. I say let the people collect handbags if they wish, even if it's a $10,000 or more handbag. I don't see any harm in it at all and I wish people could just let other people enjoy things!

ONE more thing!- I also think it's stupid when people (my sis in particular) criticize other people (me) for being on a forum about purses. People with hobbies join forums all the time and research their hobbies.

Glad to see I am not the only person who has people who think I am stupid for being on a forum, a few of my friends think I am silly for it. I just like being able to share my love of these things with like minded people.

yes, and some people play video games and read magazines and forums for them, so there's nothing wrong with doing it for bags. I just don't let it bother me :smile1: and I would love an Hermes Birkin as well. I am thinking of setting up a fund for one.

Respectful criticism comes from certain places, none of which I'm going to spend my time on now.

Markedly disrespectful and even rude criticism comes from two different places in my book: 1) those who are threatened, envious or jealous; or 2) those who have been so legitimately offended that they veer off their normal course of decorum.

I contemplate someone, like, for example, Roger Ebert, the film critic.

Either way, the one thing I have always remembered is that the very first time I was able to own an H bag, I felt like a princess. (These days, I'm the Queen, lol :)) I'm proud of my bags ... but could have no pride in them if I was not proud of myself and my own behavior. Sow's ears don't make silk purses .... etc.

Speaking of, I just pulled out the most brilliant coloured pre-owned Kelly sold to me by a friend, I somehow never got around to carrying it until just now and I am in *lurve* with this 32cm shockingly Thalassa Kelly and carrying it on a strap.

And yep, I wear Walmart and Target clothes. They do better in the garden, the horse barn and the sheep pen.

IRL so far I only got positive (verbal) feedback - but if looks could kill, I could not have shared this with you. :amuse:

Worst for me was a lady coming over and asking very loudly if my birkin was real in a crowded restaurant. When I said it was she then said, "oh in that case it is beautiful". And turned and walked straight off!!!!

The best has been the complements I get when carrying my indigo sellier Kelly 35. :smile1:

Worst (because I was a bit ashamed) but also quite funny comment came from one of my aunties when I introduced her to Hermès.
At that day, we were showed a 35 Birkin (I didn't own any Birkin at that time yet). My aunt closely inspected the bag and said without blushing while the SA was standing next to us: "Oh, those bags are perfect for grocery shopping. The vegetables I buy every Saturday would fit perfect in this" :shame:
That was until she found out the price of the Birkin....:p

Not a bad comment - but funny - when I brought my Kelly to work when I forst got it, my receptionist walked by, stopped dead in her tracks & turned to me with WIIIIDE eyes & asked:

"Is that a Birkin????"

Ha ha ha! :roflmfao: how funny!

This past Sat I was in Bulgari boutique looking at this and that, trying on some bangles etc. I had my iris B with me. Just before I stood up to leave, another SA came over and said "I was admiring your bag over there. The colour is absolutely stunning!" I thanked her and chatted a bit more about Birkin in general. She then said "Hermes do make the best bags and that's a fact!" I never had negative things said to me about my Birkins.

I love your auntie! Soo cute! And why not for grocery shopping? I think anything but meat and fish would be fine! After all, a birkin is a meant to be a casual tote.:yes:

You are right and I use my Birkins for grocery shopping too sometimes but dear auntie was really considering to buy this bag for grocery shopping only :p. And at that day, I didn't expect a comment like that so it really made me blush for a moment, lol.
