Kat, I feel exactly as you do. I work more than full time and pay my mortgage and bills all by myself. I also pay for my Hermes all by myself, and am as proud as could be of that! If anyone is offended by my things, be they strangers or friends, then problems are beyond my help.

My style is jeans and a top all the time. That's why I love the shoulder birkin better....plus no cramps/spams. I think I may want an evelyne to use for running to target and grocery shopping. But my mouth drrols for a Croc 35 in Red. I can't wear certain outfits because I'm missing that 1 bag as my final accessory. What do you think ladies? Next month should I put in a SO for a Croc or Evelyne?

People made comments on the color of the birkins I have. I took out my saffron porosus crocodile for a light lunch with my lady friends and they thought the color was too much.... They thought for the price that I paid for the saffron, they would either buy a graphite or sapphire, but it really depends on what YOU want.

Are you kidding? If you can afford it go for the Croc! (if only so I can live vicariously through you)

Saffron is an awesome colour it can be mellow, vibrant so versatile I think this colour is with many outfits:smile1:.

I must admit I like the fact that I buy my own Hermes as I am single and only have one income, it really means a lot to me to save up and buy an item when and if I can afford it.

But I am really happy other members have such gorgeous husbands/partners that like to spoil them with a pressy sometimes.

And if they get fed up with them they can send them here:graucho:

I really haven't heard any rude/catty comments about my H items yet. However, if some of my family members ever found out how much I've spent over the last few years, I'd never hear the end of it.

The only rude reaction I've gotten wasn't a comment at all, but an awkward silence. A few years ago someone I know started talking to me about Hermes as if I had never heard of the brand. I was new to Hermes but DH had given me a scarf for Christmas. After telling me about the brand, she told me about her planned purchase, how much it cost, and how rare it was. I was very excited for her and told her, "I can't wait to see it! I got a scarf for Christmas and I absolutely love it!" She responded with a very disintersted, "Oh, really?" and then complete silence. She never brought up Hermes ever again.

I think there should be a pill that people can take so they won't say hurtful things to their "friends."

I used to know a girl and I know what her retort would have been;
"who asked your opinion?"

LOL, I am high maintenance, but I maintain MYSELF! There is a big difference. I think guys actually don't mind that you maintain yourself. If they can marry you, they will know exactly what to expect instead of being blindsided. I think it's a good thing! DH thinks so too ;)

Completely agree with this one. I studied hard to get where I am, continue to work hard to earn what I make, give money to church and charity - I deserve to spend discretionary income on myself and what makes me happy. I love beautiful things, they make me happy. As hermesmonkey succinctly put it "I am high maintenance but I maintain myself". Happily, DH contributes to maintenance costs. :p

Ardneish, very well said :smile1:

yes have gotten a few comments mostly form the same person. I can't avoid her completely so I minimise what I wear around her and try to avoid letting the conversation go to H. If it does go that way I say the item was a gift.

LOL

I have a SIL who has gone the other way, she makes sure she only buys bags for 19.99 and brags about how long they last, like they cost her $2 a year. This is absolutely because she has ensconced herself in that position in our extended family. Although, she's had enough secret plastic surgery to cover a couple of birkins. :)

I can't say I've had any catty remarks. There may be some thoughts, but nothing so far.

Well said dear ... and if England is too far for them to send ... they can send them to HK to me ...lol

Like I said earlier, I have not had any negative remarks (yet) and should I get any I can only hope that i will handle the situation gracefully.

I work full-time and study part-time, and if I want to endulge in a "little" luxury I will do so. Hopefully I am carrying myself in a non-offencive way, making people want to say nice things about my appearance and my personality rather than nasty things.

love this one too Kat :flowers:
