Key pouch stitching

My old canvas key pouch was similar, my concern was that the large stitch holes would eventually cause canvas cracks... it did. I just gave it away and bought a new one. The second one never cracked.

I inadvertently discovered the light shining through on mine--wasn't inspecting it for perfection. Not knowing whether or not it was typical, I wondered if I'd gotten a sub-standard item, biggest concern being that it might fall apart with wear. Knowing that it's normal alleviates that worry.

Here is my cherry cles from at least 10 years back. It's in very good condition, other than the daily wear and tear. Now, that it's been mentioned, I looked at the inside of the key pouch and could see light shining through too. It's not a big deal. Because realistically, when you stitch two pieces of canvas together, they won't bind like soft fabric or soft leather. So this construction is normal.View attachment 4172355 View attachment 4172356
So cute and looks great!

So I have noticed the same thing with the newer key pouches. I recently bought a DE one that had the same light showing through at the bottom. My usual SA said it’s normal when 2 pieces of canvas are stitched together without a lining which actually makes sense to some degree. I did end up checking my mono one from 6 yrs ago and it didn’t have that as you can see in the pics. I checked numerous ones in store when I bought the DE one and they were all the same. Maybe the newer model has thicker canvas which makes it harder to stitch together. Either way it doesn’t ruin the functionality of the item so I kept mine and love it. Just my opinion.....IMG_9785.jpgIMG_9786.jpgIMG_9787.jpgIMG_9788.jpg

Thanks all!!! I’m so happy to hear that it doesn’t seem to be a quality issue, which was my concern. I didn’t know if light shining through or visible stiches/stock holes indicates shoddy workmanship or quality issues. I actually don’t usually inspect things so closely, and as I said, probably wouldn’t have even noticed if I hadn’t read other posts about it. However, I did, and it started making me concerned about quality. Anyway, it sounds like most people think my cles is just fine so I’m going to continue using and loving it. :-)

The Pochette Clés is one of Vuitton's classics for decades for a reason. It's incredibly durable and I hardly ever see any problem with it. I collected many of these, old and new. The only problem I had was the chain broke off from two of mine a few years ago. I brought them both to the store, and they replaced the chain within 30 mins free of charge, no account look up, no questions asked. Both of the items were close to a decade old at the time of service.

Some people are just more paranoid than others. Please don't read too much into it as it usually makes you actively go looking for problems that didn't even exist and stress yourself out. Just enjoy it and should you have any problem in the future, I'm sure Vuitton will take care of it.

Pochette clés are very popular.
My favorite is the pochette rabat style in Epi. By far!
I wish LV could offer that in canvas!

IMO the OP's cles looks really shoddily made. The stitch holes on the side look elongated, the canvas looks misaligned, and it looks like the canvas on the right side puffs out more than the left . Idk how accurate this is because I'm looking at one picture taken at an angle. I will say that I sold my older style cles because I wasn't happy with the quality back then. I wouldn't even consider purchasing one now (and at one point I was).

This is how I would expect a cles to look, but then all my LV is vintage and the ones I have seen on e bay do look like this rather than with the visible stitching etc.

Well I received my keypouch today and I’m happy to say I don’t see the light lol.

I would’ve never thought of looking at the stitching till I came here and saw this thread.

Pouch placed directly over lamp.

You can’t even see the stitches on the DE pattern.

girls, since I have had old models and new models, the older models in my opinion are better made and larger too because more squarish, I had tested it out, the older ones can hold more.

^It's the other way around. The newer ones are ever so slightly bigger and hold more. Can't speak to quality differences, but I assume they're exaggerated.
