Oh...my....god!!! Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing - really great to see other colors than what's available on the website!

Does anyone know - when you buy a bag online, does it charge your credit/debit card right away, or do they wait to charge it upon shipping? I use an airline-associated credit card will and get an airline status boost if I spend $5k before the end of 2023. I really want a Diane bag and I really want my airline status at a certain level, so if they charge my card right away, it will kill two birds with one stone....
Mine was charged when I made the purchase

Charged immediately. Bag was shipped a month later due to QC.

Almost the end of 2023. Are we not expecting any reveals before the new year? I thought there were several people who were to go to Paris earlier this month.

Anyway, I hope by 2024 I get to buy my first JD bag; fingers crossed.
I too hope there are some new reveals as I'm still in the market for a JD bag. (And I am one of those who was in Paris in December and visited the store.)

New member here! Just wanted to report that I took the plunge and purchased a Diane messenger bag in Châtaigner online two days ago. Was a bit trepidatious about the whole purchase since I'm essentially buying the bag without having seen it in person, but the photos and feedback here helped seal the deal for me!

For the record, this is my first luxury bag purchase. I wanted something extremely high-quality, of French or Italian origin, with a vegetable tanned leather that would patina over time. When I started out, I really liked the Celine 16 in black, Moynat Gabrielle in black or cannelle, and the Hermes Constance in brown. Then I came across the Diane and saw the messenger bag version and couldn't stop thinking about it - it was everything I liked about those other bags (design, unique clasp, quality leather) wrapped up in one bag.

Will update with the whole process/pictures once I receive it!

Congratulations and thanks for posting. The Diane messenger bag would be one of my favourites from Joseph Duclos. I look forward to your pictures and comments once you get it.

Oh so it's just a paid promotion for Joseph Duclos? That explains everything.
They seem to follow a pretty aggressive advertising strategy. Those Instagram adds were everywhere, that's how I found out about the brand by the way.
Out of the blue, I have been getting JD ads on my FaceBook feed. I don't know why. Perhaps I am getting linked from my Hermes friends on FB. When the current article on PF about the brand came to my attention, I decided to find this thread. The bags look very nice, but my bag buying days are pretty much over so I am unlikely to pursue this, but it does appear that there is a strategic campaign in place when a brand is reaching out to tPF and showing up on FaceBook feeds.

Of course there is a strategic campaign - despite what their marketing claims, JD is a new bag making company starting from zero market share. They are trying to get a foot hold in an industry that is already saturated (arguably over-saturated) with other players. They are clearly doing their best to get exposure in the way of online advertising.

As for the purse blog article's comments about this being a "very active and loyal thread," I guess I have a different definition of active and loyal. There is very little activity about new purchases in this thread - I wish more people were buying their bags and posting pictures and reviews because that information would be helpful for me. I am curious about the company, and with Ramesh's involvement, I am hopeful they will be successful. But it's got to be a hard uphill battle as a new company in this industry.

As a potential buyer, these ads don't draw me in or push me away. To me, it's about the product and the customer service. Hopefully I'll make it to Paris this summer so I can visit the JD Maison. What I can say, is that I am super impressed with the pictures of their first generation of bags, and I look forward to an in-person assessment.

Congrats!!! WOW - What a beautiful choice for your first luxury bag! That exact bag is on my wishlist for 2024. Please do share your experience with us! ❤️

Yes it's difficult when one has the geographical/logistic challenge of not being able to actually see the bags in person. I don't know where you live but they have done several trunk shows in the U.S. It might be worth your while to communicate with them and let them know you would be interested in attending one of these if possible before you make it to Paris.

Their bags are amazing, not at all like anything else out there, and justifyably expensive. Not for the bag "dabbler" IMO.

Hi. I’ve searched through this thread and haven’t found the answer but there are 65 pages so I could have missed it so please forgive me if that’s the case, but my question is:

On the JD website you can personalise the Diane bag with respect to leather colour, hardware colour (I like the 26 size in black leather with palladium hardware), and engraving. I REALLY like the idea of a bag with customised and personal engraving. Do they charge extra for this level of personalisation?

Thinking about this a little more, unless I was able to see JD in person, as some of you have been able to do prior to purchase, I would be wary. This brand may be quite a bit less than Hermes, but it is still pricey. Sending off 6k or thereabouts for a new brand based on internet pictures is risky. If it works out great, if not.....Honestly, pushing the 1754 is kind of rubbing me the wrong way. It will fool a good many people into thinking that the bag brand in some shape of form has been around since then. My great great grandfather was a saddle maker in Europe. If I started up a bag brand and picked a date and snowed people with my royal letters patent, I would be no different. Hmmm...maybe I should think about it!:smartass::biggrin::smile:

Joseph Duclos’ return policy on non-customized and unaltered bags is excellent. After I bought a Fontélie, I purchased a second bag that didn’t woo me in person. I sent it back to them without issue and got a refund within the week.
Your view of the company tells me you shouldn’t purchase from them at this time. If you feel they are snowing people, the trust is not there. Hopefully, in time, JD will prove themself trustworthy in your eyes and you can purchase without concerns.:drinks:
