Been following this brand on IG for awhile - need to go to Paris in person to see/feel the bags.
Does anyone know if they have exotic options in their Boutique or if they have to be ordered ?
If it’s n the boutique you can buy it. They also seem to be producing more exotic models now than when I was there last summer.

There's also a Meet With Us link on their website where you can schedule a video appointment with them, just so they could give you an idea what's in the store before you come, if there are exotics arriving soon, etc.

Excited for you to be on this side, fellow longtime H lover

IMG_0055.jpegIMG_0054.jpeg I spent the afternoon at our neighborhood beach park before visiting the nearby small shops.
*Update — I’ve used the Fontélie a few times, and I’m looking forward to more wear as the weather begins to cooperate.
I  this bag. Its medium capacity is wonderful for carrying all the basics, plus more. The design is simple, given its clean lines, yet also catches bag lovers’ eyes.
Filled, it can get a little heavy, but not bad. If you’re a shoulder bag only kind of person, this might not be the bag for you. I mostly enjoy carrying the Fontélie by hand/forearm, and crossbody when I want hands free. It’s a little large (IMO) to shoulder carry only, and it tips outward just a bit (when full). It hasn’t sagged at all — its structure is intact, though it has a couple subtle indentations from my daughter grabbing the bag near the fold.
Am I still happy with the purchase? Yes!

Thanks for the update and glad to hear you are enjoying it so much!

Right now, The Age of Enlightenment is having a moment. The loosely based historical ‘Hollywood-like’ movies, Chevalier, is coming to theaters, and Jeanne (Bécu) du Barry, debuted this weekend at the Cannes Film festival. The trailers made me think about (the man) Joseph Duclos’ ties to Louis XV. Interesting times — I like history.
Read more about the leather manufacturer’s history on the Joseph Duclos website.
And yes, to TPF’ers rolling your eyes, I recognize that the bag company has a tenuous relationship to the original Louis XV era company.;)

This is so true! There's also the BBC series that's currently playing on PBS, 'Marie Antoinette'... They all pale in comparison to Sofia Coppola's 2006 film in my opinion, though... It's one of my all time favorites! I could watch it anytime.

Afternoon fellow Duclos lovers! I decided to reach out and inquire about in-stock exotics. Here are the deets:

All of these are outside my price point, but I know there have been questions about price and thought you all would appreciate the info!

Well I'm pretty sure I've narrowed it down to color in the Diane (Ardroise).....I need a taupish bag for dinners and lighter use. I do have a B30 in Etoupe I use a ton but want something smaller with a strap for after-hours, and am trying to decide between the 20 and the 26. I actually went so far as to cut out pieces of paper to use as a size reference. Can anyone reassure me that the 26 wouldn't be redundant with my 30B? I'm 5'9 and slim. The 20 seems absolutely tiny. For some reason the web photos make the 20 seem bigger than what I'm seeing when I visualize a 20cm x 14cm piece of paper on me....
Hahahaha I did the same… I built mine out of carton boxes… I lean more towards the 26. Feels more practical and more speacy. I could probably fit my stuff in L20 too, but would be crammed and no extra space for anything else

My hubby laughs at me because I build scale models of pricey bags I’m considering purchasing. Using printer paper, tape together the sheets to create a model. You can even tape together strips to make a strap to see the sizes against your frame.
The JD team members I’ve spoken with have all said the bag interiors seem more spacious than their measurements.
If you want to feel a wee bit more secure before a purchase, I think bag models are the way to go.:flowers:

Did you end up placing an order?

I am thinking of doing so next week. I initially really loved the nenuphar color, but since I am trying to build a basic collection I can always use think ardoise is a safer option… any opinion?

Then I am thinking to go for the L26…. How about you?

I think it's a great idea. If I am not mistaken @Vintage Leather may do something similar(?)

I just go around the house measuring things to see if I can find something of similar dimensions. Sometimes I tie string round a book (string with same drop length) and walk around the house, wondering from mirror to mirror, try to just catch glimpses of myself as if a stranger in passing... Your DH would be in hysterics, I have to wait until mines out the house.

JD bags are really expensive, the only alternative is a round-trip to Paris.

I blame Hermes, back when they made the Paper Kelly models.
I took the file to a kinkos and had them print it out at 28 cm, 30 and 32. For $15, and an hour of time, I had three kelly models I could play with and determine sizes on.

Did it for a few other H bags. Haven’t yet gotten into M. Duclos yet, but paper models are really the smartest idea.

Here’s an example of a printer paper and tape Chanel WOC I made several years ago. I wondered how much I’d have to pare down, if I bought one. After making a model, I decided a WOC wasn’t for me.
I might make a mock-up of a Saint Clair Mini Clutch.
I’m set on a Diane L26. I’ll probably order by this fall.

This is to exact WOC measurements.

What’s funny is bespoke bag makers do this as a preview for clients. Such a good idea and so worth it for visualizing!
