Did you end up placing an order?

I am thinking of doing so next week. I initially really loved the nenuphar color, but since I am trying to build a basic collection I can always use think ardoise is a safer option… any opinion?

Then I am thinking to go for the L26…. How about you?
Ardoise is great, easy to carry and use Am very happy with my 26, it's a great size and not too heavy! Do u plan on getting the bag with a passementerie strap?

I think it's a great idea. If I am not mistaken @Vintage Leather may do something similar(?)

I just go around the house measuring things to see if I can find something of similar dimensions. Sometimes I tie string round a book (string with same drop length) and walk around the house, wondering from mirror to mirror, try to just catch glimpses of myself as if a stranger in passing... Your DH would be in hysterics, I have to wait until mines out the house.

JD bags are really expensive, the only alternative is a round-trip to Paris.
I told my husband about the books and string. He’s torn — in one way, he thinks we’re smart to make mock bags, but he also thinks we’re hilarious! I love your idea.
Seen the leather up close. Textured leather pattern is very unique (I think it's exclusively made for Duclos) and looks like a great daily bag
Thank you for your input. :flowers: I think you’re correct — Tempo is exclusive for JD. I think this leather will make for an amazing daily bag.

I cant decide whether to be super impressed about the mock-ups with paper (the hours of research, measurements, making…) or to giggle over the fact that we take our handbags so seriously
but hey, serious collectors and users are to be prized, they’re the bedrock of a brand’s credible followers. So I’m going to be both impressed and amused, they’re not mutually exclusive !

 Yes, indeed. Luxury shopping is some serious business.

Don’t be too impressed :flowers: — I’m sorry to write that my mock handbags take about 15-20 minutes a piece, from looking up dimensions to completion. I thank my parents for that — an engineer and an artist. I think creating these helped me design patterns and sew my own bag inserts. I’m excited about that. Next insert is for a Diane messenger or Diane L26.

I had a thought this morning — something everyone else has probably noticed. The Lectoure tote is the only non-flap JD bag. I’m thinking flap bags rank #1 for customers.
Ramesh created and tweaked beautiful non-flap bags at H and Moynat — the Bolide, Bombay bag, Ballerine, and Pauline. I hope a zip bag or open shoulder/crossbody bag is in the works at JD.:girlsigh:

Interesting now that you mention it - other than the Ballerine, I cannot recall another Ramesh Moynat bag with a zipper. (And I'm curious which Bolide you're referring to - was it one of those crazy special editions?)

I'm in the middle of a huge teardown of my collection and making note of my "learnings" - after a mini obsession with big (mostly slouchy) Bolides they are all now rehomed. I just don't need to carry so much stuff now and the 35 didn't make sense for me anymore. (My little Fourbi was swimming in there!)

Making room on my shelves for my next trip to Paris and visit to JD. I am really looking forward to feeling the new leathers and seeing the new styles.

Yes, he designed a special edition that didn’t get much traction.
I’m not into slouchy big bags anymore. Many of my bags became leather puddles that I eventually gave away.
I still like the Bo31 with an insert.
The original Pauline had no closure, then a magnetic closure, and finally a zipper. I liked the Josephine and its closure, but didn’t like how it folded in on itself as the leather softened.
Though it’s unstructured, I’m probably going to get a Lectoure tote. It’s not too large and my Bolide insert should fit inside, providing structure to the base.
I still want a Diane L26. The Saint-Clair and Diane messenger are still on my list, but I’m waiting to see if any non-flap bags will appear in the fall or winter.

Oh right I forgot about the regular Pauline - and I even had one lol!

I love love love my Diane messenger and am going to try out using it as a quasi-clutch without the strap and a twilly for a handle. The leather is really developing a nice patina.

I remember your Pauline.
I think your messenger will make a perfect clutch. It doesn’t seem like it would be too cumbersome.
I’m glad to hear about the patina. I love the thought of heritage leather, but I’m a little nervous about it. I’ll have to start a mantra — “Accept the scratch. It gives the bag character.” I appreciate scratches and wear on other people’s bags; I just have a tough time (sometimes) when my bag gets scratches.

Please don’t feel strange about forgetting the Pauline. How could I forget?! — I owned the original M Limousine and it has a zipper.
I  flap bags and totes — especially the Diane series. Zippered bags hold a special place in my heart — the choice to leave them open, or secure the bag with a quick zip.
JD is all about the leather. The leathers are in mind with each creation. I’m curious if an open access/zippered, softer leather (not as heavy as bull) ‘purse-sized’ bag makes its way into the flock.
Maybe JD will come up with a better beautiful alternative to a structured Bolide or Alma.:girlsigh: No puddles, please.
What am I writing? Do I really want my wishlist to grow?!?!

hahaha.

The Pauline was too east/west for my stuff to fit and I found the zipper very fiddly. The Pauline Haut is better for me. I still have both of mine - I'm just remembering that the last time I talked with Ramesh at Moynat he commented that maybe he would bring that back someday, perhaps revised with a strap.

Let's see what newness he keeps bringing at JD!

Yes, its the clutch not the besace, more sleek & rectangular. Plus no surrounding hardware as you pointed out, even with the strap detached you’d still see the frame & ring attachment point for the strap. The clutch has a chain that can be detached & it just disappears

Such a beautiful clutch! I’m visiting the paris store next week, and I just might need to pick this one up. Stunning and sexy.
