I'm surprised JD would allow the trunk show leftovers to be resold so cheaply, kind of devalues his brand a bit imo.

they are already devaluing the brand with that cheap brown packaging we saw a few pages back, the way they handled that customs dispute, and their cheap-looking generic Shopify website they have at the moment.

this just goes to show how out of touch with luxury their CEO has. if indeed these were leftovers from the trunk show and I was in charge, I would've had these bags shipped back to Paris, just to protect the brand. these were hand made by artisans. he could've shown some respect.

I have to disagree - JD has no control over third party resale and who in their right mind would guess that anyone would resell for that little? That is the consignor’s fault for not managing the item.

They clearly are not fully up to speed, still, on conducting business in the US. That doesn’t mean they are out of touch with luxury, perhaps just stubbornly French (which still exists, and IMO thank goodness).

I hate to be a broken record but if you buy in Paris you get the Paris experience and the handmade bag. (Plus detaxe. And no importing agita.)

I mean don't get me wrong, I will still buy a Diane and Saint-Clair at some point. also I'm in the EU so yes I will buy in Paris but I am not eligible for détaxe.

I'm just a little bothered by these small things (packaging and website are not really US-specific concerns) that in my perspective are low-hanging fruits that, when given attention to, would provide the experience that luxury customers look for

like this is not luxury:

and neither is this:

That site looks like a MTO drop-shipping site for shoes out of Spain. 💀

The shipping box is a situation-specific thing that we are assuming happened exactly as reported here.

Their website is arguably better than before for browsing for a particular bag, but I agree is not aligned with the brand. However is a website the best way to do business like this? Moynat ceased online commerce a while ago, and the most recommended custom artisans discussed here do everything by email/app.

If I were reading this as a “higher up” at JD I might just consider aborting online altogether. The vibe here is to trash the brand for not having the commercial infrastructure to satisfy customers outside the EU. (Or perhaps they need a partner to deal with our extraordinary demands.)

I suspect the agency handling JD’s marketing is no longer in contract with JD given the decline in marketing and presentation the last six months. The trunk shows were probably quickly offloaded onto TRR as many brands dump dead stock on that website for next to nothing. I am a little peeved the Saint Claire I requested and was told was sold out was bought for $225… and not by ME 😂 It just makes you feel iffy about buying new

Hello, do you guys have a copy or a link of JD’s return/cancellation policy? I couldn’t seem to find in online.

I’ve been trying to have them cancel my order (not a customize item or special order) that was placed back in December. I realized I wanted a different color but they don’t have it available in the type of leather I prefer. The item is still in production and has not been shipped yet. However, JD rep said they are unable to cancel my order because “product is in fabrication process”.

Does this makes sense? I just can’t comprehend the fact that I can’t cancel an item that has not even been shipped yet.

My guess would be they are now making the items to order (even if they aren’t modified) so that they don’t have to hold onto stock.

That’s very frustrating! I hope they cancel the order for you.

I think this is what you're looking for: https://josephduclos.com/en/policies/terms-of-sale

The key section related to your situation is under Article 10.3 - Restriction on the Right of Withdrawal:

"In accordance with Article L. 221-28 of the French Consumer Code, your right of withdrawal cannot be exercised for orders for... (ii) custom Products, unless said Products are returned because they are defective."
Since JD mentioned that the product is in the "fabrication process", they may be classifying it as a custom product, which typically cannot be canceled or refunded once production has started.

However, if what you bought is not customized, this clause might not apply, and you could argue for a refund based on delivery delays, especially if the product is overdue beyond the standard delivery timeframe. You can reference Article 8 - Delivery Problems, which states:

"In the event of failure to meet the delivery time (except for force majeure), you may cancel the order by contacting our Customer Service. JOSEPH DUCLOS will then be obliged to refund you for all amounts paid, at the latest within fourteen (14) days of the date of cancellation of the contract of sale."
You could use this section to support your case if the product hasn't been delivered within the promised timeframe and no force majeure applies.

P.S.
I'm not a lawyer. I asked ChatGPT's help on your behalf. <3

That’s kind of annoying because it’s not a special order… but who knows what they are doing… I feel that the OP should be able to cancel a non special order.
It depends on what her invoice looks like! If it says made to order or any indication of something similar it would be very difficult to argue for a refund!

If not then she should be able to get a refund by either asking for one by arguing her case or doing a charge back.

I would think if they still have the same return policy as previously (can return within 30 days for any reason), then JD would rather the order get cancelled now then have to deal with a return later.
