Love this one! I just wish they’d improve on their customer service - bought my 2nd bag last week (Sept 19th) and have not received any updates at all until now. My messages on whatsapp were left unanswered as well!

I bought my first Diane 2 years ago and everything went smoothly and coordination was top notch! Bought the Diane 20 last week and - nada!

Ugh, not feeling too confident about everything 😰

After I thanked JD, they emailed me again with apologies and stated even though DHL was part of this process, they (JD) also take responsibility for this situation. They will hold internal meeting to implement a new process to insure that this type of oversite won't happen again.

I'm very happy and pleased with their follow up.
Their last email was filled with very good vibes and I want to share it with you all!
I'm a very happy camper now

thank you all!
Mixed emotions on this one, as someone who also lives in CA and purchased her bag in Dec 2023 - VERY VERY happy that they refunded you this cost, as that is absolutely the right thing to do here, but gosh, what a snafu!

While I can appreciate what I'm sure was lots of digging and back-and-forth on their end, the process was in limbo for too long IMO. I'm honestly kind of surprised they didn't give you anything else for your troubles (a small gift or discount on a future purchase would've been something), particularly as this was a serious issue involving taxes/US government. Really hoping I don't have to deal with this as well in the upcoming months/year.

And @Mousy, congratulations on being C-free!!!!! Wishing you a very long remission.

Hello!
Actually, this very morning I got an email from JD where they are offering me a bottle of their perfume as a token of their appreciation for my understanding and patience... they asked me if it is agreeable with me..
of course i said 'yes' in my replay and thanked them

i was about to share this good news with this community
It was a nice gesture from JD. It made my day.

Some more pics of the limited edition from Ramesh's instagram stories

There's also a heritage leather version:

Prices are 16,000 eur for the lizard and 7,800 eur for the heritage version. It says on WWD that the heritage can be bought today at the website but I am not seeing anything so far.
I saw both limited edition versions irl at the JD store yesterday. Both are stunning. The matte lizard is a limited edition of 5 and 2 are already sold. The bags will be numbered. I can’t remember how many of the heritage leather version will be made. The lizard LE version won’t be ready to ship out until October at the earliest apparently. It was my first visit to the store in Paris and they couldn’t have been nicer. The bags are as gorgeous irl as they look in the pictures.

Oh, good, I'm so glad!

I bought my first JD several weeks ago and had an incredible experience in the boutique. It felt like a VIP appointment (you literally receive a VIP vat refund option to surpass the airport nonsense). Despite the luxurious, exclusive environment, they were extremely humble in how they presented the pieces, and even insisted I take the bags outside (outside of the boutique) to see the color in natural light.

I know some here have had less than stellar experiences with shipments, but I think this is why places like Hermes do not ship bags overseas, let alone customizations.

I have kept in touch with my SA there and have received incredibly detailed and prompt responses, and feel they do a lot to make special requests happen for all clients. However I’m willing to bet this level of attention and customization won’t be sustainable as the brand recognition grows as will demand. They are already scaling, will be opening their second boutique in japan!

I posted this on a Hermès thread but it bears mentioning here. H looks like it's reissuing the So Black Kelly in a smaller size and sellier style:

If you take a closer look, unlike the original So Black Kelly, this reissued one has rings for strap. I remember the old one didn't have because apparently the black hardware is made of PVD coating, so the black part peeled.

And if I remember distinctly, the black hardware that JD uses comes from a supplier that has figured out how to make the hardware black during casting, so it's not done via coating and therefore doesn't peel. As we can see here (and other all-black JD bags) the black hardware is also on the strap rings. The closure itself also undergoes a lot of friction with itself during opening and closing, and so JD is confident that it won't peel.

So I'm thinking maybe Hermès also tapped this supplier for the So Black Kelly.

Very cool indeed. And I’d believe it. JD def wins in hardware category

Don't forget the SOBlackK/B were over 10 years ago.

Blacker metal hardware is not new. I've had bags with gunmetal hw from the 00s and '10s (Sergio Rossi, BV etc) I guess the problem was getting it dark enough to be considered black.

I bought a SO Black Gucci BTH a couple of years ago (made late 2021, bought early 2022). Plenty of outings, plenty of opportunities for wear, including changes of straps (web-stripe and plain black leather with BHW). Immaculate. Whoever has the recipe for black metal :rochard: is doing a good job.
