Hello all

silly me, I didn't check on my $515 JD refund status (issued on Sept 17th (per JD email))....
I got my Amex statement and refund is not there, I called Amex today and they said that Sept 17 refund should have been reflected on my account by now.

Here we go again.... emailing JD asking for my refund status....

looks like Halloween has already started for me ... sorry for my sarcasm

Goodness grief.. does Amex see a refund pending? If it missed your statement, it should still
show it.

After I thanked JD, they emailed me again with apologies and stated even though DHL was part of this process, they (JD) also take responsibility for this situation. They will hold internal meeting to implement a new process to insure that this type of oversite won't happen again.

I'm very happy and pleased with their follow up.
Their last email was filled with very good vibes and I want to share it with you all!
I'm a very happy camper now

thank you all!
Really, so in spite of the apologies coming from Joseph Duclos, @YGR will have to be pro-active
again in recouping her money.
Wonder what explanation Duclos is going to come up with now?

JD answered and said: "Unfortunately, the refund requested was rejected on our website, as we only able to process refunds within a max of 120 days from the original transaction date"
JD said that they will wire me $515 refund and asked for my banking information.

To be honest, i'm NOT comfortable sharing my bank account via email.... I asked JD to work with their payment system representative to figure out how to issue refund back to my credit card.

Am i being unreasonable for not feeling comfortable with sharing my banking info?
I also feel if I would not reach out to JD about my refund 'failed' status, I would not be notified by them about this issue...
do they reconcile their bank account? sorry... all this makes me bitter

Giving them your routing and account number doesn't do anything except allow them to wire money TO you. If you don't want to send via email figure out a secure message transfer. You could also ask for a check or ask them to figure out some venmo-ish or zelle-ish thing that also works in France.

Their point that they can't just give you back funds on your cc is valid - there is no longer a recent charge to relate the refund to and it's probably an AML rule to prohibit just randomly issuing cc credits.

Thank you.
Just called my bank.... they agree that emailing banking info is not the safest...
maybe i can ask JD to issue me a check... but there is a fee ($40) to deposit (because it'll be a foreign bank) and it takes up to 6 weeks to clear ... incoming wire also have a fee ($10) ...
i don't have any venmo / zelle accounts ( i know... I know....)
Now i have to deal with this nightmare.. so frustrating ... and JD were silent about it (grr) till I had to contact them yesterday

I do think JD should be able to override their payment system... (by involving the vendor) to process refund....
I wish they could at least give it a good try

That's not true at all for USA accounts. For example, if have a merchant account, and I have someone's routing & account account, I can transfer money out of that without any kind of immediate protection (this system was created decades ago, there are no passwords). I've literally done this by accident. Think about when you set up an autopay from your bank account, all you do is give them a routing # & checking #, and lo and behold they can just start removing money from your account.

Granted, there's a lot of fraud detection, and transactions can generally be unwound, so it's not quite that simple to steal money. But it's generally wise to let as few people know your account # as possible.

If JD knew that they could not process a refund they should have known that before they responded
to @YGR & told her to expect a refund. This is simply poor client relations & because @YGR had to
reach out to them again, just compounds & complicates her getting a refund
