Well, my pre-ordered Nenuphar Diane Messenger bag arrived sooner than expected (although not without some delivery issues—-see below) and it indeed is gorgeous! In fact when I took it out of the box my husband stopped dead in his tracks, commenting on how beautiful it is. My iphone is weirdly showing the bag looking different colors but it is closer to the forest green in the 2nd photo.

Just a head's up---since a number of people had talked of issues with DHL, I asked for the bag to be sent FedEx---and indeed I had to fill out a form with my SS number/ and JD had to send information re: the bag's "composition"---but not before the bag sat at FedEX in Memphis for over 2 full days without anyone knowing about this need. As I follow the tracking I ended up calling FedEx customer service to find out why the bag was just sitting there and only THEN they told me. This was a US CUSTOMS/FedEX issue not JD's, and of course FedEX could have notified us all in a more timely manner. I have no idea how long the bag might have sat there without us having a clue what the problem was... However, luckily customs did not open the package and handle the bag. But if you order you should know, as this seems to happen with both DHL and FedEx. Also, as many of you noted, it was quite expensive to ship this bag (customs duties and state tax)---so obviously the most cost efficient situation is to pick up in Paris if at all possible.

In any event, JD was VERY responsive to all the issues---I think their customer service is wonderful!! They were also fantastic in communication/ video visits to view bags long-distance/ and answering any and all questions I had.
Hope that my experience helps anyone considering an order from the US.
Congratulations!!!!

Oh wow that is gorgeous - congrats!

Another testimonial on the benefits of going to Paris to buy a JD bag!

At first this was my favourite color for the L20. Then JD recommended ardoise, since this would be a main bag for me. Still love the green color

Such a gorgeous color… congratulations !
I’m very curious to see how the colour evolves with the patina, if you would be kind enough to share over time. Thank you 🙏

Thank you! I for sure will keep everyone posted on the color changes.
It’s very matte right now, and I expect that it will get more shiny over time as well.
please post pictures when you see changes. it would be interesting to see how the green patinas over time. we are so used to seeing patina on natural, black, and ebene barenia bags that these new colors would show us other unseen varieties.

Hello everyone! I haven’t been on tPF for a couple weeks and am getting caught up on recent posts. It’s so exciting to see more and more posts sharing recent purchases, and even a new thread too!

I don’t usually share my own videos, but I wanted to share this review of the Diane Messenger here since there aren’t many video reviews out there. Hopefully it’s helpful!

JOSEPH DUCLOS Diane Messenger In-Depth Review

Just looked at your video---very detailed and complete! Well done! One thing, though---maybe in the effort to be as unbiased and critical as possible, I didn't get much of an impression of whether after 6 months, and your earlier mishap and repair---do you still love it? Do you regret getting heritage leather?

Regardless, your bag is beautiful and looks to be 'aging' very nicely.

I had a hard time deciding between the ardoise and the nenuphar (green), but as I have a plethora of etoupe/etain/natural barenia Hermes bags, thought I should branch out a bit.

Anyway, many thanks for posting your video! :hugs:

Thank you taking the time to watch and respond! Very fair critique and I appreciate the feedback.

I do still love the bag and I’m glad I went with heritage leather, even thought it’s not as carefree as tempo. I don’t have anything quite like it, so it’s a special addition to my collection and fills a gap, so to speak.

Hi Guys! I haven't been around for a while because life got in the way (I'm pregnant for the first time! First trimester is awful!), but wanted to post an update on my Diane Messenger Bag in case anyone else is curious about how the leather holds up after months of use.

I have used my bag frequently since I got it back in April, so roughly almost 3 months of use. I'm including 2 photos: one of the bag as it was this morning, never been buffed at all during my 3 months of use. And I don't baby it! I literally half-mindedly threw it into the backseat floor of my car this morning where it rolled around a bit during the drive, and had it sitting on the pavement at lunch today. The second photo is after probably a minute's worth of buffing using one of the sleeves it came in - by no means much effort or even using anything fancy.

All in all, I'm pretty please that the scratches can so easily disappear. Stand further away and you really don't see them at all. Now I just need that strong patina to start forming!
