I am just going to say it, this brand needs new bags. I am feeling JD fatigue, especially with all the targeted ads they have running everywhere. I don't know how you can survive, or grow, on such a limited collection. I hope they pull it together with some new offerings soon.
I heard from someone that they're still catching up on the orders caused by that one Taylor Swift picture. Plus the new Saint-Clair with handle seems to have been received well, judging from the wait time after ordering (3 months instead of the usual 2).

Good for them, if true.

I like to hear that! I look forward to trying on the new little Saint-Clair later this year.

IMHO their approach (handmade timeless designs rather than fashion) almost requires at this stage of their business a curated number of pieces in the collection.

I love that little Saint-Clair, it's darling, but too small for me. I agree with all everyone has written about them moving slowly and thoughtfully, except that fact that there is not a bag I am interested in purchasing at this time. I'll keep waiting!

I too fear that it might be too small, but will try nevertheless.

I agree, and I find it interesting that they refuse to go the route of churning out multiple lines of bags just to create « newness ».
I remember reading in some of Ramesh’s old interviews that he doesnt like to follow fashion calendars and resists the compulsion to produce new collections just for the sake of it. I guess thats the process they’re folowing here & it’s refreshing in a way. Also a smart move since their business model is genuinely artisanal, they need to consolidate & grow by steps not leaps.

Agreed. I got the impression that, especially by the end of his time at Moynat, the suit-driven <<newness>> imperative was exactly the opposite of what he wanted to be doing (and thought that the heritage-driven strategy that had been the beginnings of Moynat was being sacrificed).

Glad he seems more in charge of things here.

I hear you both, but I am talking maybe 1 or 2 new bag styles...not a whole new line of bags that get churned out each season. That would be horrible and would take away from the brand. I think making the Diane in a 30mm makes sense, but it also feels like a bit of a cheat too. 30mm is such a great size for a daily bag, would be nice to see something that is slightly different. Just my opinion.

I don't disagree. The question is who is the primary JD customer?

I'm saying this as a fan of JD, but I think we've had enough of Diane sizes. We have all bases covered, and the Saint-Clair collection is also the same, unless they can think of a bigger flap bag.

What I'm really looking for are different materials or different styles altogether. Exotics are waaay out of my budget right now so I'm really hoping for canvas or osier or other materials that Hermès hasn't used.

Hi everyone---have a question for you re: shipping to the US from JD---I understand they previously used DHL only but now are offering the option of FedEx---I think @Loganz was having some issues with DHL... but has anyone used FedEx recently from JD? And what was the experience? Would you use DHL or FedEx?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Both of my shipment experiences were with DHL. Latest was around Feb-24. I had no issues. I'm in CA.
