UPDATE: My husband just heard back from the detective, they had video surveillance on the boy picking up the rings, and have not been successful in contacting his parents. They interviewed the boy, and he admitted he found two diamond rings there & handing them to his MOTHER, and they were then seen getting into their car & driving off!!! So his mother was actually there with him & left with them!

They want me to bring them any photo I may have with my rings (I already have one ready for them & both rings are seen very nice, and clearly :) They also asked for any receipts on the rings I may have (Have all the paperwork for one) not the other since it was a gift from my parents!

This is where it stands as of now, but wanted to fill you guys in. Please keep your prayers as there is a little hope, even though it looks like this lady doesn't want to give them back :(

Depending on the value on your rings, that mother could be facing grand larceny charges...not sure why people act this way, especially after the child admitted to taking them. :pullhair:

Well at least your case is moving forward!

Well, at least the kid was honest about finding the rings. I wasn't expecting much considering his parents are obviously not setting very good examples for him. Thanks for keeping us posted. We're all keeping our fingers crossed for you here!

Sending positive thoughts your way!

Thank you!

The detective told my husband that she will be facing charges, I think that is why he wants all the rings receipts/documentation, it will definitely be Grand Larceny! Even though believe it, or not I wouldn't want her going to jail. I just wish she would give them back! I just can't believe after all of this she still has refused to return them

I wasn't expecting that either, but who knows how they handled their interview with him, the mention of him being on camera would have been enough to get him to speak up.

I just want this nightmare over with. I thought I had lost them forever & now the school, detectives & police know who has them, their destiny is not a question mark anymore. I just wish this lady would do the right thing now that she knows who their rightful owner is. I just feel super anxious.

Hopefully we will hear something tomorrow. Thanks again to all of you for living this nightmare along with me!

Well...at least the child admitted to picking up the rings & giving them to his mother. Depending on the value of the rings, this could result in Grand Larceny charges against the mother. I would make copies of a good picture of both rings & start checking pawn shops or jewelry stores in the area. The mother my try to get rid of them. It's a shame there are people like this in the world. Make sure you give the police clear pictures, copies of receipts, & copies of insurance appraisals. Good luck.
This just breaks my heart!

Pawn shops require ID, and they often take a photo and fingerprints of the person selling the items. They also hold items they receive for a period of time and compare them against stolen goods reports they routinely receive from local police. Really, taking the rings to a pawn shop would be just about the dumbest thing a person could do at this point.

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE! I got the call I have been waiting for this morning, and it was so ironic that I received the call in the same place I lost my rings where I was parked with my toddler this morning! The detective finally got a hold of the mother, and she is giving my rings back today :yahoo:

He asked me if I wanted to press charges, and I said no! Even though this woman was wrong & I hope she learned a lesson with a simple scare, I just don't want to cause her any harm specially during the holidays instead I will pray for her because God can do amazing things through love, understanding, and forgiveness! Like I told the detective all I want is what is mine returned back to me!

I cannot wait for my husband to put them back on my finger again & I am very emotional as this has been a very sad situation for us. I will let you guys know when I have them back in my possession, but detective said she has to bring them in today!

I have to say that you guys felt like real friends to me through out all of this & that really helped me through this so THANK YOU TPF friends for your advise, Wisdom, Encouragement, and most importantly all the love! :hugs:

This is wonderful news!!! Praise God! I pray the mother has learned her lesson & asks for your forgiveness. She's truly fortunate that you don't want to press charges during this season of the year.

I'm so happy for you! I know a burden & weight has been lifted off your shoulders. Please keep us updated when your husband places these treasures on your finger again!

Awesome!!! I just hope the mother doesn't take it out on her son for admitting that he had picked them up.

Thank you so much, I have them back in my possession, and I still cannot believe it, all thanks to God! I feel very blessed, relieved, happy, so many emotions!

The detective told me the lady was very short with him, and when she handed my rings to him she just said "I am all set right?" so no apology, if anything I think she was upset she had to return them, but it is okay I forgive her anyways, haha!

That's wonderful! I'm so happy for you! Thanks for sharing the good news!

Thank you :hugs:

Apparently, this woman has no conscience. She's incredibly lucky you did not press charges. But your rings have been returned & you have forgiven her. In the end, it's not about you & them, it's about you & Him.
Sending you wishes for a joyous Christmas! :hugs:

I don't know that she is even greatful at all, or even learned anything from this experience (Which was my hope for her) I think if anything she is upset she didn't get to keep them. I just hope that her son learns from this, and when he is older he will know to be honest & do good by others.

I love how you said it is about me & him! These rings were already very special to me, but after all of this I feel they are truly symbolic of my relationship with my husband, no matter what they were meant to be with me forever! To God be all the glory!

May you have a wonderful blessed Christmas & Thanks again for all your support!

This is progress. I hope the police visit this woman and get your rings back. It's theft plain and simple at this point.
