I've got a medium billy in grey suede. It's holding up really well for being suede. I think it's a great size. Between the two. I would have a hard time deciding. the MBMJ is more of a structured bag than the billy. Normally when not on the shoulder falls into a mass of lovely leather. It's not structured at all. I can take pics later today if you would like.

I like the billy as an everyday slouchy leather bag. It can hold quite a bit. It's pretty casual as well. BTW JD burgundy is gorgeous IRL.

Here are some quick pics.

Thank you Lulu3955! You look great with your Billy!
The Billy and the MBMJ Groovee are indeed to totally different bags. I have a MBMJ Faridah and love the leather. What might bother me with the Groovee, is the way it looks when carried by the longer strap. It tends to "roll over" in a weird way, KWIM?
The Billy looks great on the website and in pics, but I haven't seen it IRL yet. There's one store in my country that sells JD, but they only have the large in stock. So I'll have to order it from the JD website.

How does the Calfskin feel? Is it thick? I really like thick, smooshy leather. From the pics, the Lambskin reminds me of the Wang Rocco bubbly leather. I love my Rocco, but it's kinda fragile. The corners are showing wear, even after I babied it like crazy.

Would love to hear some more about the Billy or other JD's!

The Leather has a similar feel to an A/W bag but slightly more durable from what I can tell. I only had a rocco for about a month before I returned it. I would say it's thickness is about a medium. It's not so thick that it's heavy and not so thin that it's delicate. The texture depending on which leather and what year it's from it might have some bubbles for texture. I really like that though. it gives it character if it where ever to become dirty. it makes the texture stand out more.

I think the medium billy is a great size. The large one is really large. It's more of a work size than an everyday size. IMHO.

I've only got 4 JD bags. I've got 1 med. billy, 2 twees, 1 charles plus a makeup bag.

Out of all my bags the Charles is the most beat up and most used. Here is a pic of the petrol leather dirty and bubbly. The corners don't really show wear besides having the bubbles stand out more and slight fading around the edges

Here is my newest addition. It's a Grey Twee. Same bubbles on the leather.

The large Billy is definitely a large bag, but there's really not a lot of bulk due to the relaxed, slouchy nature of the bag. Mine fits to my body and doesn't feel too heavy when I'm carrying it. I have the large Billy in grey lambskin, got it in S/S 2010. I ordered it from the JD store in NYC and had great customer service. It is my favorite bag. Here's a pic.

Beautiful Bag simpsonyte. I've got the same leather on my twee. I very much agree that the NYC store has amazing customer service. They also do charge sends. I was lucky enough to visit the store when I was in NYC last summer.

lulu3955, love your other JD's too!

Simpsonyte, Love your modeling pics on your blog, great style! May I ask how tall you are? The Large doesn't seem that big on you, even if the reviews state it's a very big bag.
I still think the M would be good for me (I'm 163cm, I think that's 5'3). I have a lot of big bags, but I get sore shoulders when I take them out shopping.

I'm selling some bags on the bay to fund either the Billy or the MBMJ Groovee, let's hope the sales go well :D

Thanks Lulu3955! I think the twee is adorable too! I would LOVE to actually visit the NYC store!

Thanks *bunny*LV*! And thanks for checking out my blog! I am 5'9", so luckily I've always been able to carry large bags. The medium may be better for you. One of the things I love about the billy is the variety of ways you can carry it, on the shoulder as a tote, by hand, or folded up with the shoulder strap, to prevent sore shoulders. Good luck with selling your bags!

Woohoo I've almost raised the funds to buy the Medium Billy :yahoo:
I really needed to clean out my bag closet before buying a new one. It feels really good to be able to buy one without having to spend 'extra' money, KWIM? And it makes me think more about what I have before buying a bag I don't need.
So this time, I thought about what I wanted and looked at what I had and didn't use. Found out I had about 5 or 6 bags I didn't use anymore (some high street brands and a few more expensive ones). I decided: if I sell all or some of them and am able to get the budget for the Billy, then I deserve it :graucho:

Soooo, by early December, the Burgundy Billy M will be mine!! :woohoo:

I pretty much do the same thing. Out with the old to feel less guilty about something new. It feels great to do that.

Congrats! I can't wait to see your pics of it and find out how you like it.
