Is this price just offensive?

I own my own business (and can wear whatever I choose) and attend grad school so yeah, as I said, this kind of thing, simply because I like it a lot and because I don't spend a lot of time anywhere where there is a dress code, would get a lot of wear.
HOWEVER...

(the Shopping Gods decided I was better off spending my $ on Chanel tweed. I agree with them.)

That is exactly what I thought. I would pay $15.00 for that (if it were my style anyway) not $1500.00. That's just insanity.
I'm so glad you didn't do it. The heart wants what it wants, but Chanel Tweed is so much better to invest your money in. Any pics of what you ended up with?

As of right now, I don't think I will be purchasing any of the alternatives. When I like a specific thing, I usually like only that specific thing,a nd it looks to me like those rings will be available on SAP's website for awhile. IF I have $1500 kicking around anytime within the next 6 months I might reconsider but for now, due to the above auction, I am pretty much on a BAN.

The ring is cute, I'd definitely wear it. But I had to keep looking at the pic, and then the price to make sure I was looking at the right piece, it is way overpriced. I would definitely get the Betsey Johnson version instead.
