Is this a defect, is this normal for this Chanel item?

Hi everybody! So i saw someone had this black classic mini rectangle for sale, and wanted your guys opinions about some small things on the bag that I wonder about. My questions it whether the flap is align on both sides? I feel the right corner is sticking out a bit. Is that normal? And the leather on the chain is also sticking out of the grommet. Also last.. does the flap stick out from the bag too much or would you say that is normal ? Thank you for looking !

Hi all,

I finally bought a Chanel after a few year hiatus and it was my first pre-loved purchase to date on Fashionphile.

I’m happy with the leather and everything but the chain is throwing me off like crazy! Is this normal? Basically the chain is very open on one gold spot and the rest of the gold up the strap isn’t as tight as the silver side either. I know Chanel’s quality hasn’t been the best for awhile and I’d seen some chains in store that were not great, but I’m a little surprised by this. Is this normal? Would you keep it?

Would really appreciate anyones advice! I’m not too picky so I’m fine to suck it up but was just a little surprised.

Hi. I just bought my first CF, and once I got home I noticed a frayed thread on the bottom of the bag. I am okay with it as is I guss, but am wondering whether this is a problem that could escalate. So what do you guys think, is this normal/not a problem or should I try to exchange?

Update: turns out there were 4 missing stitches (very hard to see from the picture) so I returned the bag.

Hi, is this normal wear and tear or "accelerated" wear and tear due to issues with the leather paint? Have I lost actual leather or just leather pigment? This is happening at multiple places on my bag... The bag (mini 2.55) is <1 year old. Thank you!

Thank you :). A scuff doesn’t bother me as much because at the end of the day a purse is a piece of leather meant to be used and no price tag makes animal skin infallible.

However in this case I’m wondering if there could be a particular issue with the finish of that teal 2.55 reissue? I have dozens of other Chanel bags (including other reissues) without that peeling issue. That particular bag is also peeling at 8 other places. Strangely, it is not peeling at high friction traffic areas (e.g., back pockets).

I wonder if that is something that a leather restorator can fix. I’ve heard that paint peel is easy to fix, but not if the actual leather is peeled, revealing the raw parts.

This can happen - wear and tear for example placing it on the surface roughly or the corners rub with clothes (rubbing with your hips). More apparent with light color bag. It looks like the finishing color got scuff rather than the peeled leather.
Touch up by leather restoration would cost less than usd800.

I would send some photos to Leather Surgeons and ask if there’s anything they can do about it. They fixed some color peeling on the corner of my metallic reissue (still not sure how that happened, but I noticed it after putting my bag down on a chair in a cafe), and it looks as good as new.

I purchased this mini flap with top handle yesterday and came home to unbox it and see this. Would you bring back to SA or keep because it will eventually happen with lamb skin from use. Annoyed because it was $5879 with tax. Why is it not perfect! IMG_7695.jpeg
