Is this a defect, is this normal for this Chanel item?

How bad does she want the bag? If she absolutely wants it, she should keep looking at new inventory, she will find it! Mostly, SA's don't make a big deal of these defects. You get the usual "it's handmade so it won't be perfect" line each time. I've come across only 2 really nice SA's who understand this is a lot of money to spend and we should go home with the piece that makes us happy.
Are they handmade or are they mass factory produced per the post above? I’ve been wondering this? Thanks!

I am not aware how the bag is produced, but SA's always claim it's hand made. I think that it's a mix, certain parts are assembled by hand but it's mostly mass produced. Like, I don't think the stitching on the diamonds is done by hand. I would love to know myself.

Went with my friend to look at classic flap’s today. Its her first and every bag we looked at had either loose stitching, creased corners or wonky flaps. I had similar issues a year ago but eventually found the perfect bag after looking at about 8. Ive never seen quality issues with any other chanel item and i own quite a few pieces but always find problems with classic flaps.
Has anyone else experienced the same? I just dont get what on earth is going on. She wasn’t looking for a perfect bag but i dont think the first thing we should see when looking at these bags is a popped stitch and misaligned flap for such high prices. i told her to keep looking but at this point i dont know if ive given her the right advice. What would you ladies do?
Ugh this is so tough! I would also wait if there were obvious imperfections. I recently bought a classic flap sight unseen (my SA sent photos and my mom picked it up for me since I'm not local) and I felt so nervous about it. I asked my SA for pictures from all angles and kept questioning if there were quality issues. She was super patient and kind, and when the bag arrived, fortunately it was perfect. This is a bag from 23A, so it's recent - so I do think that if your friend keeps looking, she'll find one!

The bags are stitched by machine but parts are assembled by hand. At the same time aren’t most bags? You can see short videos on you tube of how the bags are made.

I think she’s going to speak to someone different next time. She doesn’t have an SA but she wanted to find someone she genuinely clicked with herself. To be honest the person showing her the bags was quite unhelpful. Shes a first time customer and understands the SAs have no control over what they receive but to act as if its normal and they dont see what the problem is made her feel upset.
She hasn’t lost hope and my SA is fab so thats always an option when she wants to look again :)

The dishonesty always bothers me the most I feel like

That bothers me too. She should definitely find someone she clicks with. I finally found some special SA's after after meeting a few awful ones and they have made my experience feel so special. I carry the memory/feeling of that experience with me when using the bag, as silly as it may sound. I was after my dream bag and I wasn't going to give up on it over a bad SA!!

Yes I completely agree! I was in the same position i spoke to so many SAs before my current one and im sure they didnt see me as a serious buyer. My current sa went above and beyond even knowing i can be quite particular at times. Shes so patient and i shop with her regularly now. I purchase things from chanel over other brand purely because i enjoy popping in to see her and having that special experience.

Maybe your friend can also consider casting a wider net with vintage Chanel. Brand Off and other Japanese resellers tend to have lower prices than resellers stateside and the vintage lambskin and caviar leathers can be top notch. Depending on the style bag and seasonal sales, it may be worth looking into. Vintage can also mean longer-lasting 24K gold-plated hardware.

Wow 8? I feel like every time I’ve gone to ask for a black CF every time I had been told “no sorry we don’t have one” for over 2 years that’s like maybe 10 visit. When I finally got one, they had ONE. My cf has the weirdest tilt forward and the base is longer on the back than the front of the bag. But never did I have an opportunity to exchange it for a second choice (let alone 8!!!)

classic flaps seem very easy to get here now I don't think so many people are paying the new price.
no way would I accept a bag this expensive with anything majorly wrong with it. my SA wouldn't even show me one because she knows I won't accept it. :blah:
if it bothers you have you considered taking it in for repair? not sure if there's anything they can do or if they would offer you a store credit but worth a try.

I bought an 18S Old Medium Boy bag in brushed gold hardware from a reknown reseller and i am noticing that everytime i wear light colored clothes - i get “grey” marks on my clothes. It came with original receipts and everything. Has this happened to anyone? Is this normal process of wear and tear?? i was so embarrassed to have all these grey dirty marks all over my white shirt when i took off my bag

I have never had any marks from the Chanel bags on any of my clothing. I do not think it’s normal.
