that's very interesting, thanks for posting!

to answer the question, YES it is worth the money and wait. much more than i thought before owning the bag. i can't quite explain it but i think i love it more than any other bag i have owned. i'm also surprised (especially because i live in a city where i have seen 2 hermes bags in the entire time i've lived there) about the compliments on it (even by people who have no idea what it is). it is totally obtainable, since i got mine just walking into a store:p. one downside though is now i want more and no longer want other bags LOL:laugh:

isn't crazy how that shift happens? before you have one, sometimes you are so discouraged and feel frustrated. but now that you have one, it is like all is well in the world and you can finally relax! :p and i am so much more open to the wait for additional B's.

Been to the Madison Avenue store about 2 weeks ago, there were 2 that i saw..one in black and one in this toupe (i'm not sure if that's the correct spelling) both with gold hardware...very beautiful my aunt got one so that was exciting...However i noticed there and in many other shops i visited it's not so much about wait lists as much as it's about the person who is helping you....I guess in the madison avenue store we went and asked were told there isn't..same moment i called my mom asked for who helped her, was given the name and boom 2 bags appeared...waiting lists i guess are more if you looking for special skins or maybe the so black line etc...

Can anyone just do that? because I REALLY want one, but I'm not sure how to get one. If so, can you also please let me know the name of the sales associate?

Thanks for linking. What an interesting process it would be to watch this. Hermes ought to start a service like BMW, Audi and the Corvette plant where you get to go pick up your bag and witness the finishing touches. Or go upfront and make the direct special order. They could charge a fortune for that!

Is it true you have to order personally in store?

Usually that is the case if you have built up a relationship with an SA and are invited to place an order.

A lucky few find the Birkin of their dreams on the shelf.

Those who have established relationships can ask over the phone if they know what they want. I have done this before as well. If you are unknown to the store they will usually not entertain a phone order (I say usually, my DH was offered a croc Birkin over the phone from a boutique that we had not visited before, so there are always exceptions but they are few and far between).

HTH!
