It is vinyl which is probably 40 years old. It has slight stains that DH doesn't see. I notice them every time I mop. He thinks it is special because it is coved up the walls. They don't do that anymore. I find the coving hard to clean. You can't mop easily up the curve.Paint chips are deceiving. I too like @Alexa5 look at as many photos I can find on the internet. We repainted the living from from dark brown to what we thought were cool white. It turned out pale blue. We even had even painted a 2ft X 2 ft sample on the wall. We still got it wrong. We have yet to repaint. Sigh.
What kind of floor do you have the currently in the master bath?
In our current remodel, there is a small bathroom. We didn't redo the sink cabinet because a few of the contractors pointed out how it has special curved tile all around the sink. They don't make that anymore. It does kind of look like a work of art so I'm happy we decided to keep it. We'll replace the faucet and we are having the cabinets refinished rather than replaced.
I'm sorry about your living room. Most of our house was painted in a cool white that has some gray and blue in it. It just looked dirty. I think part of the problem was the walls were smooth rather than textured. We saw a sample of the yellow for the laundry room on the wall and loved it. It is nearly overwhelming once it is on all the walls, but now I'm kind of liking it. I think once the cabinets are in, the washer and dryer are in place and I put things on the wall, there will be just the right amount of yellow exposed. All the design magazines always show bold wall colors while my inclination is to pick the most pastel version I can find. I did the small bathroom in a spring green. I don't love it. I don't hate it. I wonder if I should have picked something a little bolder. The room was very boring before as the tile is beige and the walls were that dirty white. It's better now but maybe another color would have been better.
