I only tried one prescription drug many years ago and I didn't like the side effects. I take unisom (the original formula) which has an added benefit of helping with my cough. Sometimes I take some supplements which may or may not help. Melatonin didn't work for me. It gave me nightmares. I've used theanine, PS100 and Glycine. Theanine and Glycine are amino acids so I feel they are very safe. Glycine tastes like sugar. I think anything you use only works if you use it occasionally.

You’re right! I’ve always had trouble sleeping (thanks, ADHD) and melatonin works until it doesn’t. I’ve learned that smaller doses are better for me and I need to take a month off once it stops working. It definitely isn’t something that suits everyone, and can’t be used long term.

Hello friends!
I hope you're having a wonderful Christmas! An to those who celebrate other holidays, I hope your holidays were/are wonderful. :hugs:

I missed you guys so much! You're the one set of ladies I so wanted to see while I was away. I didn't mean to stay away so long, but we've had medical issues in the family and one thing led into another and time just flew by. Hopefully 2022 will be a better year for all of us. :-s:girlsigh::drinks:

I am not going to pretend to catch up with all 5,000 pages I missed. ( I don't really know how many I missed as TPF sent me right back to the beginning of the thread.) I'm sure you've all behaved beautifully and stayed out of trouble. Right? :giggle: I will go back a few pages and see what goodies I can find. Believe it or not, I was better than suspected.;) I may fess up later....

See you guys soon! :hbeat:
How lovely to hear from you! I’m sorry to hear your family has had medical issues. I hope things are better now.

Our province just announced that school winter break will be extended by a week. I’m guessing it’s likely going to be longer.

I wish everyone good health, of course, that’s the most important thing. But this pandemic will just not end :(

It’s especially scary for us given my kiddo’s recent diagnosis, but I suppose we’re better off keeping him home although I’m going to have to get very creative to keep him busy. And DH can’t stop talking about our upcoming move, which I have zero spoons for.

Sigh. Can’t even process anything right now. I could really use a calorie-packet treat to calm this stress but was on a health kick while grocery shopping for some reason. So mad at myself for not getting anything fun.

Anyway. Stay healthy, safe and warm, friends ❤️

The same thing happened to DH when he took melatonin! It scared me enough not to try it myself. I have some good nights and some bad ones. Oh, well.

Ugh, that sounds really hard. This just keeps going and it's difficult to stay positive. Lately I've taken to process just one day at a time. I can't handle more than that sometimes. Just to what you can. Hang in there mamma. :hugs:

Sorry to hear about the insomnia problems, my friends. I'm also in the Sleepless Nights Club. Due to PTSD I've slept through the night 7 times in just under 19 years. 6 hours (waking up a few times) is a good night. :hrmm:

Jen, I am sorry to hear that you are a Sleep-deprived Sister too . It’s hard, isn’t it? Guess after awhile, we just get used to functioning like that (or half functioning like me ).

Sorry to hear about your DS’s extended winter break but you are probably right in that keeping him at home a bit longer may be safer for his health. Good luck with and have fun doing various projects with him. Yikes about your move — moving is always stressful for me. But it will all work out and it will be great after you get settled. You can do it MK . Hope you get your sweet treat soon (I find a sweet treat most comforting when I am stressed or during a pandemic  — not saying that’s the best thing but just being honest).

Have you tried any meditations? There are a lot of short ones out there too, along with some for sleeping, and they can be really helpful when the issue is that you keep thinking about things, etc. I hope your mind chills out a bit!

No, normally I sleep pretty good. I just have a lot on my mind this week, and I think it's just that time of the month for me. I seem to have more anxiety when I'm hormonal but luckily it just lasts a few days.

There has been something that has been bothering me but yesterday I finally took the first step on solving the issue and that did make me feel better :)
