I feel like the anxieties only started after becoming a Mom . Don’t know if it’s a common side effect of motherhood, lol.
As moms we definitely worry more about anything related or even possibly related to our child. It's natural.

Now that I have had a couple of days to think about things, it seems silly to buy all the stuff. Because if a person gets sick with this virus, he/she needs medical care, not a lot of toilet paper, etc. But I just worried that if supplies remain scarce, it would be hard to buy more if needed. Really hoping this thing gets contained soon.
You are right about what we need during a time like this, but most of us feel better by being or feeling prepared in some way or another. So it's natural that you would be concerned about supplies being scarce when you really need them. I hope things get contained soon too.

It was the first Disney movie my kids didn’t cry while watching it. We tried with so many movies but it was this one and Lady and the Tramp that were their favourites.

I loved the Aristocats even when I was young. I think watching this movie was the first exposure I had to Paris and all those wonderful namesakes and vocabulary.

What a sweet memory. The movie is on my list for sure.

Ok...Im sitting in my chair crying at the moment. Was supposed to go to Italy on the 21st March...but it looks like the Tour Operator has canceled it.
Will go and see my agent tommorrow.

This is really upsetting! I hope you can reschedule soon. We have a special trip planned for the summer, and we are starting to worry. . I really hope things are contained soon.

Ok..on the big computer at work so makes it a bit easier to explain.
Typical me...overreaction but understandable. The tour company has not canceled my tour, just not taking in Lombardy or Venice by the sounds of it.
Im still going as the cost of not for someone in my situation would be hard. Insurance does not pay out for Coronavirus.
I know a lot of you wll be concerned , but i feel confident about the tour operator looking after me.
I will take all the precuations I can.
Its a dream trip and I refuse to let fear ruin this trip for me. Any kind of overseas trip has an element of risk and Im prepared to take that risk.

Yay, you're still going, I'm so glad! I love your attitude of not letting fear ruin your dream trip. I hope you enjoy every minute of it! :hbeat:

Good news, have a wonderful trip!

I caved! I bought the navy Cassie and a frame bag on fos. I lasted all of two months. Well, it was longer because I bought my last bag in early December. Anyway, I am annoyed, because just hours after my purchase, the same items are marked down. With the lower price I would save more than 60 bucks. I called to ask for a price adjustment and was told no because it's a new sale. :whut::rolleyes::tdown: I have a good mind to just purchase both things again. :annoyed:

Oh, I also just purchased the MM bag that will be DH's gift to me for my birthday even though he doesn't know it yet. :giggle:

I broke my ban a second time (insert eye roll) and bought the bright dark berry Charlie 28 from FOS with free shipping. Just got the notice today it's enroute. I finally have a cute summer pink bag with gold hardware in a style I like and know (not as floppy as the full size Charlie). I should be done if I can get past my hang-up of mixing hardware. I want to use my silver hardware flower charms so I've been looking and looking for a small to medium size bag with silver hardware. Might check out my own consignment shop.

I can tell we're getting close to end of term.

Off topic venting please, I have been consumed by the C-virus panic the last couple of days since we are in the same metro area as a few confirmed cases. yikes. The stores are all out of any sanitizer, alcohol wipes, and even most soaps now . Amazon is mostly out too. I got some extra water and canned food etc. I want to buy some hand sanitizer from Bath Body works since they are the only store with any left (tonight at least). DH thinks I am crazy and that good old fashioned hand washing should suffice. I hate to waste money but want to be prepared.

I know many others have commented on this already but was just going to chime in because it's been consuming my energies the past week or so. I've found myself tracking things on the Johns Hopkins site every day because it's interesting to watch the numbers fluctuate; my husband and I are both on the prepper side of the spectrum which is due partly to his ex-Mormon upbringing (when he was a teen they had to stockpile 2 years worth of goods per church doctrine) and my own proclivity towards emergency management. When I was little, growing up in the Midwest meant that every spring you get a nice deluge of tornado watches, which to me meant make a go-bag out of your little backpack and put some cat and dog food in there plus snacks for yourself and extra socks and take all your stuffed animals down to the basement if a warning hits. So I was prepared, but my parents would always laugh at me about it, which was infuriating but didn't douse my burgeoning prepper spirit.

Anyway, seeing as how my 79yo mother lives with us, we are taking some extra precautions and being really careful about exposing ourselves unnecessarily to risk since she herself is high-risk. We did the Costco run a couple weeks ago for extra staples, and I did one on Monday for toilet paper and Clorox, alcohol wipes and water; I felt a bit of a fool about it, but my logic is basically if I can keep myself from being exposed to the unwashed teeming masses at Costco or elsewhere if s*** really hits the fan, I run less of a risk of transmitting anything back to her when I come home. Plus all that toilet paper will get used eventually and we have the space for it in the basement (so long as my stuffed animals have a place to go... okay wait that was 30 years ago).

We tend a bit on the paranoid side of things when it comes to governmental advisories and "don't panic, everything's fine" when first-person anecdotes from healthcare workers are saying the exact opposite. So I say whatever you're doing to prepare in advance of this is a good idea. Sources are saying the fatality rate is 3x higher than the flu, so I am not taking any chances with my elderly mother. My stubborn elderly father who lives alone and doesn't practice good hygiene and is a heavy smoker and has been losing weight inexplicably... well, there's only so much I can really control at this point. But thanks for letting me prattle on about this topic as it's been pretty interesting to me, to say the least.

Ok “fashion” advice please. I just found out I need to go to a funeral in a couple of days. I haven’t been to one in almost 20 years. I have about 5 black dresses — I am wearing the only one that doesn’t have shiny sequins or made of velvet, lol. The problem is that my problematic feet have been hurting so badly the last 4-6 weeks (even in athletic shoes). I don’t think I can wear my normal Grannie black flats. Would it look tacky/disrespectful if I wear my black Skechers slip on sports shoes? Thanks.

I was at a funeral for an old friend's mother a couple weeks ago and the fashion there was all over the board. Some folks in jeans, some in slacks, hardly anybody in a dress, and my husband was probably better-dressed than the funeral directors. (Meanwhile the college friend of mine that we'd driven up to provide support for never actually went to the visitation nor funeral service. We were kind of stunned.)

@Iamminda I hope the service went smoothly and that you were comfortable in your shoes -- believe me when I say I didn't notice anybody else's footwear so I doubt anybody would be noticing yours! It's just kind of you to even be there to pay respects to the deceased and their loved ones; that's the most important thing.
