How wonderful! Congrats!
What kind of work do you do?Thanks! In a roundabout way. More for professional development and increasing knowledge base vs a direct promotion. Though it might help me in the future.
Toootally off topic, but I finished and passed my test for a certification I was working on. So maybe since this is a 3 day weekend for me I can work on some organizing.
That sounds really frightening to deal with preeclampsia and a preemie at once! You were really wise to rest as much as possible. One of mine was preemie, but I didn't have any complications. I had a really hard time leaving him in the NICU, and the nurses reminded me I needed to rest or I could get sick and wouldn't be allowed to be there. Smart nurses! I stayed during the day, but it was very restful kangaroo care.So true! (speaking of birth plans) For me, I think I just never did a birth plan or anything--I just kept feeling like I should be ready for whatever, and to get things ready early. And it was a good thing because my son came 6 weeks early due to preeclampsia. And then when he was in the NICU for a few weeks, of course I visited him regularly, but I did also take the time to rest up while he wasn't at home yet because the whole experience made me very tired. For whatever reason, and partly because he was a healthy NICU patient, I wasn't panicked about being there around the clock--I tried really hard to balance my time so I could be ready for when he came home. And it is a good thing because not long after he came home he had colic, and we didn't get much sleep. We had to take shifts in the night to stay up with him as he cried and screamed. Life is interesting sometimes! lol
You are a great listener! I'll try to remember that slow and steady works for me. I took a day off (used a "banked day") and it kind of made me lose my steam for a couple of days; so I'm back at it!Hi TO! I read Marie Kondo's book but if you've seen the video clips and read books on this topic, I don't think it's necessary to read her book as well. I like her idea about bringing everything out (eg., all of our handbags) so you can really see what you own, as opposed to going room to room. But like most things, I think organizing is personal and we have our own ways to do things. I noticed you said the current slower method you're doing now is less stressful. I think that's key. When cleaning and organizing becomes stressful, it acts as a deterrent. Personally, I want the job done so I try to make it as fun as possible.
Yes, I have a great time shopping with my DD. My Mom and I love to shop together, too, so I'm just passing on that enjoyment. We're not aimless shoppers, we do stay focused for the most part. DS is good to shop with for clothes if it's a need. I actually want him to shop for clothes (beyond athletic wear) more independently, although he did have a suit tailored without me or DH in the fall so that was a big step forward. While clothes shopping is fun, my main goal for both kids (they are young adults) when I'm out with them is to have them develop their own sense of style, an awareness of quality fabrics and construction and a good understanding of proper fit for their body type. That's what my mom passed on to me.
I'm looking forward to using my new tearose charm! It's very pretty and I haven't stopped looking at it (it's on the coffee table right now so I can admire it). I'm enjoying everything tearose by Coach. There's a couple more things I'd like to do (eg., customize a leather bag with tearoses, add a tearose to my denim patchwork tearose pouch) and maybe buy the tooled tearose shoulder strap I was looking at yesterday.
Having my furry penguin match our learning theme this term is serendipitous; this doesn't happen often!
You've already done great with the pre-move purges, and I vote for socializing! You sound like you've been doing great, and you will get it all done and have fun too. Win win!So this year is not starting out as a cleaning/organizational one. Still in social mode when not at work. A week into the year and all I’ve done is work and socialize.. A lot of you are off to a good start this year. Organizing/purging/selling/ donating.. that’s awesome! I need to get on that track. On a positive note I haven’t been looking at bags and I haven’t purchased any. Good thing since I don’t know where I would put them. Ha![]()

I like your method. I am doing better going slowly too. Last summer, I went through the bedrooms and pulled everything out in a whirlwind. It was great, but not sustainable. I'm trying to make it a new habit to go through a small area everyday. Eventually it will be even faster. The funniest thing so far is cleaning off the tray on top of the fridge. I have a tray up there for taking down to use for refreshments, and every time I go to use it, I find things on it that I have to put away. I am the one that usually puts things there so it becomes like a hidden junk/treasure drawer. I cleaned it off for the last time and let everyone know the new rule that nothing can go on it. We've all laughed every time I had to clean it off yet again. No more! It’s always a good time to start! I never really have New Years goals or resolutions. I’ve been on a little kick since this past Summer on getting rid of things I don’t use but I’m going slowly. If I do too much of anything quickly I tend to lose steam so I tackle smaller projects one at a timeAnd hey, I think not looking at new bags is a pretty good step!![]()
Yes yes! I want mine with silver. This will be stunning.I want a bright Cobalt blue with gold hardware.

This year we need a "show me your ornaments/decorations" thread! That’s how I feel! Half-hearted like I don’t care too much. Kind of “meh.” It’s a different feeling, that’s for sure. It’s great you have your next handbag selected to keep your focus! I like my chalk Rogue, she’s a cutie.
In the meantime, besides work I’ve been taking down on my Christmas decorations. It’s a slow process for me as most of my tree ornaments are vintage baubles and need to be packed on an organized way into all their boxes so everything fits.
I’m also continuing my purge and organization of household items and clothes so I think seeing all the bags I’m taking to the Goodwill is deterring me from looking at bags.
Congratulations!! The work is paying off!Toootally off topic, but I finished and passed my test for a certification I was working on. So maybe since this is a 3 day weekend for me I can work on some organizing.
