VIP clients and Influencers were invited to the "Universe of Hermes Bags" in Dubai on November 17th.
It was all about bags and specifically limited edition birkins and kellys.. It seems Hermes cracked and gave in.
Chinese Influencers even started live broadcasting in one of the hermes boutiques Dubai, already gave in long time ago :P:P:P

I also noticed influencers with a specific style to start wearing the B25-30 in black + a black Kelly. And sometimes a vintage box Kelly in addition. It seems H chose a bunch who fit their aesthetics and decided to give them all the same bags around the same time frame

I’m speaking about MVB, Rikke Krefting and Claire Rose. They also wear the same jewelry (Cartier Love, JUC and Tiffany Hardwear)

Then I also noted less known influencers with a similar style, one of which got a fake B25 which was apparent from the handle shape and pearling on the bag… forgot her name…

I was at a recent H party in London and there were a couple of you tubers/ influencers there. I noticed that they did not post about the event on their IG account and seriously doubt they get any special treatment. They were just customers. Some of them collaborated with resellers too.

At the end of the day most ‘influencers’ are a brand and only show carefully edited content.

there was a recent one who was posting about her house renovation. She had a beautiful Georgian rectory restored and she was constantly posting pretty photos saying how much she loved country living. Anyway - without any warning she suddenly sold up and bought a house in london. The point being that she never mentioned in any of her posts that country living was any less than perfection and she was in fact, quite desperate to move to London.

I can't think of anything less significant in my life than to watch a stranger opening a box with a bag in it. Even beauty YouTubers are doing it, I am so turned off.

I guess it's good if there's no chance of seeing one IRL before ordering online - reseller or H, even then, such a gamble with an H bag.
Ditto! I’m honestly flabbergasted at the sheer number and popularity of all these unboxing videos.

Tbh, the only unboxing I want to watch is this one…

Agree that influencers' stories and tales are highly embellished! I think the funniest one is je suis lou, who honestly expects us to believe she was magically just offered the 2 most covetable bag combos in a year (b25 in noir and b25 in gold) from the boutique "just because" with almost no pre-spend. Seriously? That's just plain rude and disrespectful to viewers. At hermes, that just doesn't happen - highly inclined to believe they're replicas because that's just the more believable thing. Occam's razor

I find it more sad than funny.

I wonder how many influencers/Youtubers are actually trying to pass superfakes for the real thing.

I've seen influencers trying to capitalize on the Hermes hype. Sonya Sed, for example, has 15k subscribers but her "What's in my crocodile Kelly 28" has almost 40k views, yet she doesn't seem to know anything about it when she talks about it.

For sure, Leonnie Hanne got 2 mini Kelly's this year, I think for free!
Are you sure she got them for free?
Did she actually say she got them from Hermes as a gift? Because I can’t imagine that Hermes gifts mini Kellys to influencers…

the only free bags are birkins that go to ms Jane Birkin herself (for using her name.) I do believe she auctions her old ones for charity. Also Hermes PR gifted lipsticks and cosmetics to promote the launch but certainly not bags…

It just game of retailer to make sure to attract next generation of shoppers to be a sustainable business long term

i know Hermes is about exclusivity, but anyone who is willing to pay and play the game can get one…and successful influencers make pretty good money (i mean the top tiers ones only), so i am surethey can afford to buy them
And doubt H is giving any bags aways for free here

I sincerely doubt Hermès would give bags for free, nor would they indulge them with any discount. I am sure however, that influencers don't have to go through all the fuss to get quota bags and more easily offered ones.

I noticed that Caro Dauer, who previously was spotted with what seemed like a very fake grey MK to me, has now gotten a real one in green and was also invited to attend the Hermès RTW fashion show... the only person who gets them free is Jane Birkin herself, due to the history the brand shares with her.

Can we please disabuse ourselves of the fiction that H is not working with influencers for a mutually agreeable end. They literally have an open position for an influencer PR manager right now. They are giving away product or money in exchange for visibility. To believe anything else is just crazy to me.

It could be - but I would believe this only with the TOP influencers with 1M+ instagram followers. Many people are virtual nobodies that I doubt H would give away stuff to - they're the ones that peddle senreve, lilysilk, and the like.
