Anyone follow this one? I’m a bit put off by her taking lunar new year red envelopes even though she doesn’t celebrate. She laughs about how the dragon tongue is cute and doesn’t know what she’ll do with them.

Omg. Is this the lady whose SA said “I always see you in Chanel bags when am I going to see you in an Hermes bag”?! Her Hermes story is crazyyyy. Low prespend and bag just offered.. I’ll have to watch this video. I usually like her energy, tbh

Meh I’m not. It’s the SA who offered them to a very clearly white woman. Was she supposed to be like, oh no, that’s appropriation. These luxury envelopes have become so commercialized and tacky in my opinion. Influencers of all backgrounds just hoarding them. It all screams gauche to me.

IMO she could have politely declined when the sa ignorantly offered them to her. Perhaps the envelopes have been commercialized but I personally don’t find them tacky. They have some beautiful designs and make for a great presentation when gifting during the lunar new year holidays. Hoarding them and taking them when you don’t even celebrate is tacky and borders on cultural appropriation but that’s just my opinion.

Just noting that I don’t disagree with you that the envelopes aren’t tacky. They are gorgeous. It’s the constant hawking by influencers of them that is tacky. You’d never see them say a word about Amxzon brand red envelopes (or recognize the New Year at all if it weren’t for luxury takeover). She took them because that’s what every single influencer (regardless of background is doing). I will not be surprised when they end up in a channel giveaway.

My personal take - I don’t give out branded red envelopes. I don’t care if it’s a Pepsi envelope or a Hermes one, it feels odd to me.

I completely agree. Her behavior is tacky and ignorant. And then she has the nerve to say "I don't know what I'm going to do with it, maybe it'll be stationery..."

I've never watched a youtube influencer video in my life, just not my thing, but this is terrific! (I sometimes land on this thread so that I'm not totally ignorant. :P). Thanks for broadening my horizons @addiCCted!
Wow! This isn't just any video about Hermes. I love the way he explains the journey of H, through past and present. Perfection, then fun perfection!

Oh i came across her Hermes story the other day! I also like her vibe. She mentioned she thinks she got her bag so quickly because of the bright color. Bright colors are hard to move at my home store too. My SA said it can be hard to find a client who really likes pink.

As for the red envelopes, personally I think they’re very cute but as I don’t celebrate I would decline. Maybe her SA offered because they had some extra after offering to clients who do celebrate. Maybe just also as a nice gesture since she just shelled out on a diamond bracelet? Idk

And then get accused of cultural insensitivity and haughtiness and what not.

Hoarding them and taking them when you don’t even celebrate is tacky and borders on cultural appropriation but that’s just my opinion.

Chinese New Year is a global phenomenon at this point and totally commercialized and anyone can partake without actually caring one bit about the deeper meaning of any of it... Just like Christmas where in in most cases, people do not give a damn about the Christ in ChristMass but only focus on the food, the partying, the tree, thee music and of course the gifts.
