I'm not sure if this is good news or scary!

I'm not seeing it as free.

"The new scheme allows the seller to pay for an item to be sent over to the third party prior to auction. After receiving the product, the authenticator then performs a real life inspection, before sending the item to the buyer if all is in order. Additionally, a buyer can pay for an authenticator if the seller decides not to."

What it's saying is that if the seller has paid for the service, it's free to state it in the listing that the service is added and that the item will be re-reviewed before the buyer receives it.

"When the usage of the feature finally starts, sellers will be able to add it to inventories and listings of high-end fashion items such as handbags, for free."

and
For listings in the target inventory set where the seller hasn’t adopted the authentication service, the buyer will still have the ability to utilize the service for a fee.
Maybe you are right. I do not pretend my English to be better than your.
I saw it as paid service for both sellers and buyers and only for same high-end items which exceed certain amount to be free for sellers. Same as on Poshmark Concierge where sales over $500 are authenticated for free. But eBay is greedy and may be all be paid.

I got an invitation today to participate in Ebay Authenticate with an offer to only pay 10% in fees through January 2018.

"In order to receive the Promotion, sellers must create an order during the Promotion Period and sell an Eligible Luxury Handbag through eBay Authenticate. During the Promotion Period, Eligible Luxury Handbags include handbags worth $250 or more from the following luxury brands: Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Gucci, Céline, Fendi, Christian Dior, Prada, Goyard, Balenciaga, Valentino, and Burberry."

The normal fee is 20%.

Do you sell any of those brands?

Not really. Occasionally. I've sold Gucci, Fendi, Christian Dior, and Burberry, but they were vintage and not worth that much. I have a Balenciaga but I don't want to sell it.

ETA: I know my Bal is authentic because I had it authenticated on the forum but I don't know if I would trust authenticators I know nothing about to authenticate it. It is a rare style many probably would know nothing about.

^^^^ That company is a valet store seller and they've sold fakes!

I was wondering if this was a fancy way of repackaging the "valet" seller and if eastvale store would come into play. Besides the fact that I've seen multiple fakes from them, I can't imagine trusting them to even put together a decent listing! Their photos are few and horrible, and they don't have a clue about pricing.

Exactly! Most of their listings have minimal pictures and most listings can't be authenticated.

So it looks like eastvaleluxe is the new and improved (I say with great sarcasm/skepticism) eastvalestore that has become the shopfront for ebay authenticate. I noticed eastvalestore hadn't been adding any new handbags for a while, so I figured it was a matter of time.
Eta: I will say that their photography has improved marginally from the few lisitngs I've looked at. Not great, but definitely more of the details necessary to authenticate.
