Hi everyone,
I’m hoping for some help identifying and authenticating this bag. It is identical to the Convertible Clutch in dimensions (11.5” x 7.5” x 2.5”) and style except it has an attached, adjustable strap. It is thick leather and was made in New York City according to the creed.
I wondered if it was a mistake in manufacturing?
Maybe @whateve and @BeenBurned can help?

Hi everyone,

I’m in possession of what I think may have been the strap to some type of Coach men’s laptop or business bag from the 90s.

One of my family members at one point threw away their old Coach leather work bag (ahhhh!) and I recall saving the strap and I think (but am not certain) this was it.

Can you tell me if this may be Coach? I’m not seeing any identification I’m familiar with.

Full disclosure: I would be attempting to sell this item on a selling platform and happy to get it authenticated and post the listing, but since I’m uncertain of its branding the authenticate form seems not correct.

There is nothing about it that would make me believe it isn't Coach. Without branding, I don't know what the rules are on selling platforms about representing it as Coach when you don't know for sure. To be clear, there are a lot of Coach parts that don't have branding.

Does anyone know the model + worth of this bag? I know it's from the mid 70s but no other info. Found it in my grandma's attic and it belonged to my mom
Not from the mid 70s. It was made between 1987-1993. It's a swinger bag #4040. We can't advise on value but you can check sold listings on selling sites like ebay.

Here's one method of finding selling price: see what's for sale of a similar bag and look at pricing. Here's a website I like for that purpose: https://gem.app/search?terms=coach 4040 Here you can see it ranges from about 100-300 dollars. Or, you can go to google and do a search and click the "shopping" tab. Or go to one of the large selling platforms like ebay, do a search, and then look at sold items. One fun thing about this bag style: look inside the lobster claws for a little embossed anchor. It doesn't necessarily add to the value, but it is cool. It's called "nautical hardware." My swinger bag of this style has it. :)

Thank you so much for the link

Thank y’all so much for the help. What condition do you think she’s in? I’m not sure. She has a few tiny stains but I can’t tell if she’s really bad p
or not.
What I can see looks really good. Check out the Coach rehab and rescue thread here on this forum, if you want tips on how to make the bag completely beautiful. Two words: Leather CPR.

Hi all! I'm new to this forum. It was recommended I come here for help identifying this coach wallet. I bought it off etsy a couple years ago and a friend of mine wants a similar one. Her birthday is coming up and I'd love to find her an identical one! Any information on the name of this wallet would be appreciated.af199cbe-ef44-4402-94db-853e2f66b24e.jpg1a28ca24-e93c-4082-873f-9d3cc6137f41.jpg7046e89b-d1de-400f-93f1-a7591b1eb42c.jpg7046e89b-d1de-400f-93f1-a7591b1eb42c.jpg1a28ca24-e93c-4082-873f-9d3cc6137f41.jpgaf199cbe-ef44-4402-94db-853e2f66b24e.jpg

Hi, I bought a tan suede bag, style 9579 from 2003 (D33-9579) and I’m trying to identify it. I went to the Wayback machine and couldn’t open Photos, I found to find out dimensions, etc. I’m attaching three photos, one of the bag I bought, which is tan, and two that look like it, but I’m not sure whether either one is the same style. I looked in the Purse Forum for the style number of the bag, and I only found one bag with that style number out of all the thousands of messages. Let me add that the bag I bought is a very light tan, more like buff color, and it has brown leather trim around the top, covering the bottom, and the strap. It has a zip top. I’m looking for input on the name of this bag!
