I do like the ears. That is what I wanted, like the Tiffany's DBTY. I just feel they are a bit to large. It seems the Tiffany's version is more dainty.

I've attached neck shots.

Perfect size on you. Very, very lovely. Comparod to the smaller bezel solitaire that you have, this one is more significant and has a presence. This one suits you better now. The smaller one is OK for a first pendant.

Please no smaller. Just wear it for a few months. You will either get use to the size or start to have DSS (Diamond Shrinkage Syndrome).

Here's mine. My late grandmother gave me the diamond and I had it reset in a simple 5-prong setting. It's slightly less than 1 carat I think, last I checked with my jeweller it was around 0.9something. When I first received it from my grandmother, I thought it was such a ginormous stone. Now with DSS and poor eyesight that comes with age, I think it's a bit too small :p

Nice neck shots.
If you basically like the ears and your only other option is the Tiffany, which you said you'd rather not spring for, then don't worry. The size looks nice on you. YOu have a nice collection and you are lucky, enjoy it!
I like diamond pendants and have seen nice ones from .20 to about 1 carat in real life. I'm sure I would like larger too, but haven't seen that around here (at least not real diamonds). the commonest size I've seen is .33 which is very pretty when the diamond is sparkly and nice.
The ones I've seen that I don't like have like the dull diamonds or the inclusions so big that you can see them even on your neck, like big black spots.

I like pendants both alone and layered and have seen pretty ones in many different shapes and styles. I like the princess ones set so they are 'diamond' shaped, I like the pears, obviously I like the hearts, the only ones I don't care for so much are the marquise.

I think the size of the diamond is great, but I really don't like the "ears". If you feel it's large then I think that resetting your Mom's diamond is the perfect idea. Good luck and let us see photos of whatever you decide to do.

its gorgeous! also ordered the same necklace with 0.43 carats from bluenile. I was slightly disappointed in the quality of the clasp, but the same style and carat weight from tiffany's was 3 times the cost. Mine is platinum is yours white gold? I also had a little issue with the "ears" but overall I think the necklace is still beautiful.

I think its the perfect everyday size, especially for layering if you choose to do that! If I was to bezel set it, it would be a very fine bezel so that it doesnt overwhelm the diamond. a perfect example would be the platinum dbty line from tiffany. the bezel is very thin so it accentuates the diamond instead of hiding it!

a dainty halo would look gorgeous as well, just dont do anything bigger than 1 pointers because it will start to look like a cluster of sorts.;)

Thanks for the suggestions, yes I think the dbty style is what I have in mind, and I do want to layer. :smile1:

I like it, I don't find the ears distracting, in fact it looks classic and chic.

Too small?? lol it is so PERFECT!

I still prefer bezel set, I have this weird idea that the prongs will pull my hair :p

Thanks lily. I hardly wear it, i find the chain too choking. I prefer sautoirs, and I had a couple of loose diamonds from earrings, so I got them made into a DBTY-style sautoir.

I read reviews about the chain and clasp too but when I received it I wasnt disappointed at all. The chain is not flimsy, infact it is thicker that all my other necklaces and the clasp seems sturdy to me. Mine is white gold tho I did want plat. I am getting used to the ears and I love my pendant.

My husband said at first he thought it was a pearl due to the size of the diamond :)

I am thinking about resetting my mother's diamond in the same style setting but in yellow gold.

This is mine. It is over a carat but that is all I know because my dad bought it when I was young to give me when I was older. I wear it on a basic box chain in yellow gold because that is what my mezuzah is (also a gift from my parents) and i never take either off. I waited a long time to get this diamond and it has great sentimental value.
