I was just wondering what kind if commission do Chanel SA receive?

TPF may earn a commission from merchant affiliate
links, including eBay, Amazon, and others

I'm actually in Toronto! We have two here (Yorkdale and Bloor Street). The difference between the two is ridiculous!!! Someone else in another thread made a good point that one is a standalone store whereas the other is in a mall (so heavier foot traffic with less serious shoppers). The Bloor Street location gets all of my business and the SA is FANTASTIC. It is out of my way a bit but I will do it for this SA especially if she gets commission.
I agree that the Bloor Street SAs are fantastic. They go above and beyond to help out and service you. Not snobby at all. Now, I only purchase RTW not bags so maybe the experience is different. But the lengths to which they serve me is on par with what I would expect from Chanel. I have never been to the Yorkdale store so I can’t compare.

Almost all the other countries’ boutiques have offered me drinks and actually try and help find pieces close to my criteria whether or not I buy at the end. Locally, I find that even if they aren’t with clients, they don’t seem to want to help
I always ask for water when I'm at Chanel in Vancouver, and they give it, but I've never been offered anything else. In other countries, they have coffee, lattes, tea, macarons, champagne, you name it!

My friend in the real estate field told me the LV at Fairmont Vancouver has the highest sales per sqft in North America. So if Vancouver’s Chanel boutique is in the same sales/sqft league perhaps that is why they can afford to be snobbish. How could one really compete for better SA service when another customer is ready to drop 100k+ on RTW? I don’t really buy bags but my Chanel RTW was purchased outside Canada as well...

Does anyone know if the customers returned the items they will lose sales commission too?

I heard before somewhere here or online web ( sorry i forgot where it was!) the average good Chanel SAs' annual income is up to 100.000 include bonus, besides sales commission, is that true??

Ha! I never thought to ask but I do know that Vancouver’s high end stores can be a joke when it comes to offering champagne, coffee, macarons!! Guess I’m not a big spender :(

Dior though always make a point in asking me if I’d like water or sparkling water and I really appreciate the gesture when they do it. I really like their service

I love my SA but I never get offered anything  agree with ChanelLover2015, shopping with Dior is so different.
I buy RTW, SLG, bags, beauty, shoes and fine jewelry and have never even been offered water let alone anything else.

I was told by my SA that I’m an “elite” client and the next level is Pre VIP or something like that. But she also mentioned she doesn’t get any commissions but appreciates the repeat business. Not sure what the model is or it’s extra competitive because it’s LA area where luxury shopping is also a tourist activity/lots of wealthy people live here.

yes it goes Elite, Potential VIP, VIP, VVIP (formerly camellia status).

I think boutiques are so different Hybrids still get mostly dept store commission, my main boutique SA get's 1.5% on leather goods but close to 5% on RTW. Another boutique gets 1% on leather goods & 3% on RTW. Yet another they are salaried with team bonus. ALL so different. About 3 years ago, these percentages were a ton higher. Chanel slashed them all....

Sometimes when people get all bent out of shape at an SA & are like "they are not gonna get a commission off of me!" - I do the inner eye roll cuz $1000 shoes is about $10-15...

That is very interesting! I feel sad that Chanel SAs do not get their commissions (unless their salaries became more competitive) as I know it’s a tiring environment and I would imagine the commissions or sales bonuses are a big benefit. But what I find most confusing and odd is the fact that everything at Chanel is so inconsistent. I know many have lamented at one store they can reserve in advance vs another they can’t, or one SA shares look books but the other boutique won’t etc. seems so weird their policies are all over, even for compensating employees.

TOTALLY agree. You never know what the whole company will look like from year to year. The other brands, generally, you do. This is how they do X or Y. And you expect that won't change too much next year. Chanel you go, well maybe next year we might have to be on a quota list or something like Hermes. Too bad quality & the way they treat salespeople isn't reflected in the chaos of how we have to jump through hoops to buy their things!
