I was just wondering what kind if commission do Chanel SA receive?

Wow! Thanks for your years of service as a SA! I think I found a couple SA that are like you and I do everything I can to buy from them and get them business!

Thanks for sharing your story! It was very helpful and insightful! I am a professional and works a lot. I respect my SA and not to contact them when they are off. I can always wait a day or two. Shopping is not life or death. I now realize why they always say to contact them anytime. I wish more SA can work with each other so there will be less back stabbing.

Thank you again!!!

Awww thanks! I just got out of it 2 years ago because I was getting married and couldn't take working 24/7 anymore. I loved my clients though and it was hard for me to leave them, but I don't miss the drama of the other SAs. Now I have an SA friend there that keeps my Chanel obsession fueled :-)

I agree! You sound so nice. I never knew Chanel SAs could sell me anything other than what was in their department until recently. I have a closet full of items I did not want to return because I knew the SAs would be losing money. Silly I know because I was the one who ended up losing money. I have 4 regular SAs I work with and one of them is not as attentive as the others but has access to different inventory so I try to be really patient. I wonder if they are just super busy because they otherwise do not seem to care and all I am thinking is "can I please give you my money?!?!"

Knowing that they live on commission (I first learned about it with shoe SAs) has made me unrelentingly loyal to my SAs. If I am buying something, I always buy from them. But they also have never made me feel bad if I decide to return something. I am sure they are in the plus column with me, and I am happy to shop with them.

In some stores, I have worked with several SAs, and it has made me uncomfortable to see them arguing about who gets my sales. I shouldn't feel guilty about buying something.

Aww thank you! Also that's very sweet that you respect your SA that way. I loved my years of doing it and have to say that being on this forum at the time helped me learn more about Chanel than I ever could have hoped for. This is a great community and can be a great resource for SAs in terms of learning what people like the most (enabling SAs to communicate with buyers) and of trying to help when they can while following the rules. SA's aren't perfect but hopefully this gives everyone a little insight into how things work at least at one department store :) Thanks for the kind words as well! I appreciate them. Now I get to be on the other side now that I have a husband and a little 4 month old baby boy!

I have a really nice SA for shoes in Saks too. And i always try to buy stuff from him whenever it is possible or the store have it. Unless it sth Saks dont carry. I feel bad if i had to return sth or not buy anything from him sometimes. Cuz he is not like some of the SA that who give you an attitude or been so agressive and all they want is try to make the sells. He always tell me dont feel bad to return it if i dont want it. And He give me his personal opinions on the shoes. And is always responsive even on his days off. :D

Yes I believe they do. I don't know how much commission, but I did hear the commission on bags is low because the company thinks the bags just sell themselves.

I dunno where you are, but Chanel SAs in Canada are well known to be super snobbish. Maybe 1/5 SAs are nice and helpful, the rest are awful. In the US, I found that a lot of them are really nice and more helpful, likely because there's more competition there from other SAs / stores.

SAs are like people (well they are people), some are nice and others are not. Some will treat you well, others will not. If you find someone who treats you well, stick with them and don't bother looking for another SA. Good SAs will get a lot of sales out of you just by providing good service.

I'm actually in Toronto! We have two here (Yorkdale and Bloor Street). The difference between the two is ridiculous!!! Someone else in another thread made a good point that one is a standalone store whereas the other is in a mall (so heavier foot traffic with less serious shoppers). The Bloor Street location gets all of my business and the SA is FANTASTIC. It is out of my way a bit but I will do it for this SA especially if she gets commission.

If you have a good SA, you are very lucky. That being said, I find even the best SAs in Canada to be very meh. For example, SAs in Canada will not help you order / transfer anything. They will only sell you what's in their store, and if they don't have it then you're out of luck, you need to hunt it down yourself. In the US, the SAs will try to find it for you and get it to you regardless of if it's in their store or not.

It's just super odd how things are done here, which is why I have multiple Chanel bags but I've never bought a single one at my local boutique lol.

The SAs here in Vancouver are super snobby..I am not sure why that is because traveling to other countries in Europe/Asia they are so friendly and helpful.
Vancouver is the worst. I only go there to browse, and if I find something I like then I'll buy it. If I'm on the hunt for something specific, the SAs are basically useless.

I once lined up for an hour at launch because my SA at the time told me she couldn't 1) tell me what was available, 2) hold anything for me. Well I found out as I was in line that that wasn't true because many people were jumping the line because their SA reserved something for them and they could just walk in to buy it. In the end, what I wanted wasn't available. It was a massive waste of time.

Can not wait to travel again I’ve never experienced other countries’ boutiques

Totally agree and yes, likewise all my Chanel pieces are from other locations. Never had I been able to get anything from the Vancouver location. I’m thinking perhaps there is only one store here and no competition.
