This is what I was going to say. I have LV and Coach... and Dooney and Gucci and Lucky Brand also. I don't buy Coach and Dooney because I can't afford higher end bags... I can afford them and do have them, but I also like Coach & Dooney designs. - And yes, not really nice to trash someone elses bag while defending yours. Please lets all play nice... my Coaches, Dooneys and LV's all exists peacefully and happily within the same closet.

I have tried numerous times to "talk myself into" liking LV. The women I see wearing LV are typically fashionable and well put together, but I just think the bags themselves are so ugly. I have literally tried to convince myself to like them! That is sad to admit, but true. Coach is just so darn stylish and the line has such a variety...it's hard to beat! (in my humble opinion!);)

When all is said and done we will all be remembered for our personalities and our contributions to the lives of others...
not for the purses we carried.
Maybe a visit to a pediatric burns unit will help one gain some perspective.

I wish people would stop posting threads like these! Everyone here works really hard at making this forum a community of people who don't bash each over their preference for bags and thats all threads like this do is form dividing lines between members. It is just trouble-making and I'm pretty tired of it. You are not being clever or noble by stating your hate for LVs. You are just as bad as the people you claim are snobs for not liking Coach. Quit having a chip on your shoulder about liking Coach and get on with it! I own lots of designer bags (LV, Chloe, YSL, Dior, Balenciaga, Fendi and COACH!) So please think twice about your post because I don't need to hear how ugly you think my LV bags are.:cursing:

Obviously I love Coach. I think they have excellent designs and an incredibe variety of colors and textures. I do like (not love) LV too. Some of their designs are a bit over the top for me. I particularly like the Damier Azur line, and I do like the monogram. I CAN afford them.

That said, I don't buy them because as I stated in some other thread I'm going to spend lots of $$ on a bag that I'll see 30 knock offs on the street that look JUST like my original. Plus, with the money I'd spend on 1 LV, I can get soooo many Coach (high quality and yummy materials) bags and accesories!!! I'd rather go to Coach and come out with 2 ginormous bags than only 1 from the LV boutique... Hubby hates LV (thinks they look cheap too) and likes Coach.

And since this is a "shallow obssesing" place, lets keep hurt, sick, needy people out of the discussion. Some of us come here to get away from Social Services abussing innocent mothers or the police bashing minors for the music they hear or having to divorce 5 couples in one morning.

I gotta say to ladies that of all the handbag forums, the Coach threads always seem to have a need to defend their love for the brand at the expense of other ladies/brands in TPF. It is the very reason I don't hang out in the Coach threads as much as I would like because sooner or later someone has something to say about "those ugly LVs". Meanwhile, in the LV forum, I have yet to read anyone bashing "those ugly Coach's" and if they do, they get corrected quickly by other members.

Again, I guess I am trying to understand If people like certain bags just because of how much they cost or because they truly like them. I happen to like bags but I am not obsessed with any one brand or loyal to any one brand. I also did say that I like the denim lv bags so I don't think they suck, I just don't see how that brown lv style is so attractive and wanted to see what other people think. I wasn't trying to be mean or insensitive and didn't think people would take it so personally. I was out today and saw a lot of them and most were fake I am sure so It got me thinking "hmm, people must think these are cute enough to carry fake ones, what is the allure" Also I see bashing of Coach bags all over TPF but I am not really taking it personally, I am just trying to gain knowledge about this handbag internet subculture. And to the person who made the burn victim comment, obviously you are on here discussing handbags so why such an evil comment toward me ? Isn't this just a place to pass some time and "shallowly obsess"?

when you use the words "ugly" and "hate" you sure are going to get some people taking things personally. why do you care so much about why people like an certain brand? there is no one answer. you seem to suggest that its just because they are expensive or that there is some status attached to it and yeah, sure for some there is. But to clump everyone into that is just not very nice. I'm sure there are people who buy Coach for that very reason as well because afterall, not everyone can afford Coach either. And you say you don't care if people bash Coach yet you began this thread because of that very reason by your own admission....

Yep, I'm here discussing handbags alright!
I just don't really care what others carry or why - it's just not high up there on my things to ponder over.
I just think that if I'm happy with what's slung over my shoulder then it's all good.;)
